OT - Vodka

And this one was on wrong side of the country for a while ;) :p (D*m cat finally went to sleep and I got it back:o)

Those are some really really nice pictures all you hogs posted...
I either need a better camera or more of a liquor collection to get down on this thread:grumpy:

Despite the naysayer purists, there's nothing wrong with a vodka martini.

Guy, my latest concoctions are probably too salty and olive-tasting for you. I like 'em dirty. Think Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct dirty.

I do like to put the vodka in the freezer. Right now, I'm trying a Norweigan potato vodka called VikingFjord. It's really pretty good stuff. http://vikingfjord.com/

Anyway, I put about three ounces of vodka, a splash (1/4 of a capful) of dry vermouth, a teaspoon or more of olive juice, and at least two olives. With the vodka already icy cold, you can just stir them together.

I'm having one right now, in fact.

Here a Black Paper with a nice FSH that Guy intercepted... the Black Paper may have been Ducci's at one time. Do all INFI roads lead to Ducci?

I was soooo motivated, I had to have a Vodka Martini this evening... In fact, I am on #3 whilst packing for a camping trip tomorrow...

I seem to have packed about 30 lbs. of INFI and only about 11 lbs of other stuff... I guess I need to pack more INFI...

:D

That Meaner did not come to me from 'Ducci, but I cannot say if he had it before then.

I am looking forward to some serious research on the martini formulation. I shall have to set up a proper Experimental Design. Variables will be ounces of vodka, fractional teaspoons of vermouth, fractional teaspoons of olive juice, number of olives.....

He sent me a photo of one he had at one time and the markings on the slabs match EXACTLY!

What I can’t stand it when they make Vodka Martinis at bars and shake them with ice. It makes the drink taste like water.:grumpy:

+1.

I keep my vodka in the freezer. No shaking required. James Bond be damned.

Skunk, nice steel and booze but I NEED those 1911 grips! Very fine. Just the thing to go with a custom Kart barrel and, soon, Warren Tactical sights - as soon as they bring them out for 1911s. An excellent closing thought for the day...

The ratios are only super critical on the first martini of the evening :D

Ahhhh the voice of some experience.

However, we here in Busse Land are deeply trained. The first three count here:cool:

+2 on that one... This Russian don't need no stinkin' ice!!

To be honest, sometimes I'll still shake the cold vodka, the olive juice, and the vermouth. Other times, I just stir them.

Lately, I've been mostly just stirring. However, Tony G is right about not needing ice.

Tony, That is gorgeous. I am drooling on my keyboard.

Skunk, what is the name of that thing of beauty? I see baby birds beak? Is there another name? Please send it to me.:foot:

Oh yeah and I like very dirty martini's. Much higher percentage of olive juice added. ;)

That d^m knife is so nice and the slabs' beauty so subtle that I can't get the feel in a photo. I will say that my mom has fossilized river rock granite in her kitchen and it has the same feel to it. When I bought that granite for her they said it was 3 Billion years old! You get that same feel from this knife… it is just special.

Here are three bad photos of a knife I will not sell but to one person, well maybe two.

Until you get a 5:1 ratio, you're just not camping. :D
Good advice!!

So, it's another Big Schloss run... 2 hour drive, 2 hour hike, uphill both ways. ;)
Last May:
Big Schloss May '07

So far, my pack weighs 44.1 lbs. It's got a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, thermals, 6 liters of water, Jet Boil System, 4 packs of dehydrated food, bag 'O' jerky, 1 pair of socks, Extra T-shirt, first aid kit, small pack with fire starting supplies, 3 Fosters Oil Cans (1 bitter!!), Ranger Compass, Titanium cup and sporks, tent latern, small cutting board, 2 HOFSH (one variant) in sheaths, one OJ Warden, a BATAC LE w/ sheath, camp chair strapped to the outside and a few other odds and ends.

An FBM LE will be on my side (MikeyMoto Dangler), and a Fehrman - Shadow Scout and BlackHawk Gladius light will be on my waist.

Trying to see if I can squeeze in a bottle of Tito's or 360 Vodka, along with a small bottle of Extra Dry Vermouth in there as well!! Or maybe I'll just be in traction for a month...
