I'm pretty sure watches have been brought up on here before but I've been in the market for an every day/outdoors watch for a while now. Finally decided to quit puttin it off and ordered a Casio G-Shock Mudman. The reviews I've read are overwhelmingly positive so I'm hoping I made the right call. I haven't worn a watch in 10 years. Plus I've got small wrists so I hope its not too ridiculous looking:D

What are you guys currently wearing? Anyone else with a Mudman?

I've heard and read good things about the G-shocks, seems they can take a beating and you can get them with a ton of options. As for me though they are not my style, I'm currently wearing a Marathon GSAR as my everyday watch. The GSAR is a tank, has an automatic movement and tritium lighting, pretty much my grail watch. Hope you like your new watch, post some pics when you get it!

currently i have a victorinox Ti odyssey. i like it quite a bit.

EDIT: here is a pic i took for a different thread, but still showcases the watch

Hey, I had a Mudman but found the buttons hard to push. So now I wear a PAW1200 Casio.

It has a compass, altimiter, barometer, thermometer and all your basic digital watch functions. So it is a decent little tool in the field.

Oh, its solar so the battery stays charged.

I had a GSAR and loved it. Only thing I would have changed is maybe a wider band/bracelet.

Yeah, it would be nicer to have a 22mm or 24mm band, but I can't complain too much. I have it on a khaki colored Zulu strap now, pretty sweet looking:D I need to buck up and get the bracelet but it's hard to pony up $125-$170 for just a strap for your watch:eek:

I also looked at the Marathon Navigator but seeing as how I haven't worn a watch in a while I didn't want to spend the extra money. It's on my list though.

Also looked a the Pathfinders but I think the faces on them are even bigger than the G-shocks.

Anyone know if you can put the Zulu straps on the G-shocks?

I've had my G Shok about two months-extremely happy for the 35 dollars I paid for it. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Not quite as schnazzy as my 400 dollar X Lander Military but... most of the Navy Divers I saw running around Florida were wearing em so they must be the answer for a basic reasonably priced bombproof watch. The only thing I don't like is the backlight flash and beep on the hour every hour... the first two nights it wakes me up and it drives me nuts when it goes off in class. Wouldn't want it to do that hunting, either...

I've had a Casio G-Shock Tough Solar for about 5 years. It's been trouble free and stood up to the rigors of hunting, fishing, ATVing, cycling, hiking, camping, and working outdoors. I've had it 20 feet down in the water, and in salt water. No issues. Just rinse it off and go.

When I'm working I wear business causal dress and a Citizens Black Eagle.

Zodiac Dragon Wing and a Casio ROCK wireless phone as a backup. When I need something on my wrist because I might tear the Zodiac up, I go back to a Solar-Atomic Casio G-Shock.

Congrats on the new G Shock. I've been looking at the Traser (Big Date) model due to my now having to wear reading glasses (I'm still trying to stretch out the denial phase...:D).

Gundude, thanks for adding a pic. I looked at the Vics as well, they are some nice looking watches.

Shotgunner, I had looked at the multi-function Timex watches a while back and totally forgot about them. Nice band on that one!

I've had G-Shocks for 20 years now - the watches never failed me - the resin has literally fallen apart over time through hard use.

In the army, I've had several instances where the band snapped and I never noticed, but I just happened to look down and see my watch sitting there in the mud, trench, whatever.

I had a short stint (about 4 months) where my wife was tired of my nasty g-shock (another resin case falling apart!) and got me a Timex Ironman - I absolutely hated that watch and got a new G-Shock ASAP.

My next one will be a G-Shock solar atomic.

i'm partial to analog watches with titanium bands, cases, backs and bezels, and sapphire crystals. it's also nice if they have some kind of feature so they can be read in the dark.

my EDC watch is an older Luminox Nighthawk. natural colored metal parts, carbon fiber face. would be nicer if it didn't have the "F117 Nighthawk" text on the face, but other than that, it's very nice. the current model has a black finish on the metal and seems to have a solid black face, not the CF.

i've scratched up and cracked mineral glass and plastic crystals, and i don't want the weight of a stainless watch.

my beater is a Timex Indiglo Explorer. with a Sunuto compass on the band. works well.

Good choice. I have a JSAR and love it. I have it on a "kevlar" band that is 26mm if I remember correctly. It really makes it look good. I also have a zulu that I like to use. I have had it for 3 years now and it is a tank.
