Forgot to add, automatic watches are not the most accurate watches. They can be adjusted to be more accurate. Considering there are 86000+ seconds per day a few seconds off is pretty good for a spring power watch. If you have to be within a few seconds everytime you pick up your watch you are better off with a quartz or digital or kinetic. I have had a Seiko out of the box be -3 sec per 24hours. I also had one 30sec fast per 24 hours. Most autos have a 40-46 hour power reserve. So if you do not wear it for a few days it will be dead and you will have to set the time and date. Once you figure out how far off your auto is you just set the time a min or two fast or slow and reset the time every couple of weeks. An auto will never need a battery but will need to be cleaned and lubed after years of running. Some say every 5 years, some say only when they start running different. If properly cared for they will last a lifetime.
I love autos. There is just something about a mini precision time keeping machine on my wrist depending on me to keep it alive and ticking. Be careful with watches. They can be addictive like knives and guns and can get expensive.
