Our "Front Porch" ....

I just started drinking whisky ( been doing a low carb diet, trying to keep the weight off)...... Makers mark to start......then the other day a bartender gave me a glass of "Douglas of Drumlanrig"... WOW! Now that's a smooth substance!(didn't even need ice!) So I'm slowly learning about whisky, and whiskey..... So far what I know is that the Makers Mark is best after its met an ice cube for about two minutes, with plenty of sniffing before hand.. And I can only imagine what a bottle of the Drum costs.... Thought you guys could shed some light?

Got me on that one coop, check out the new thread on this general topic :)

I didn't get a chance to shoot any pics BUT was I glad to have my XM ALL last weekend. Getting the property ready for a Grad Party.
Strings, balloons, covering tables, tape, boxes, food prep. I never used any tool as much and for the variety of uses I did with my XM18 3.5 spanto flipper (and thank God for my flipper) yes, deploying with a thumstud is fine But ...... for speed and ease of one handed opening while perched a top a ladder doing pretzel moves under a 10' long banner with tape in one hand and the banner in your teeth and.... well, you get the picture.

Went to the Benchmade factory yesterday and didn't see one single knife that appealed to me (probably 300-400 knives to look at and buy). Left there feeling kinda sad... Portlandreign81 was there as well and he had the same experience. We sat outside for a while talking about how much we love our Hinderers... Better to make 3 models with some small variations that appeal to 99% than to make 400 models hoping that one will appeal to 10%. Quality over quantity.

I know what you mean, I still get magazines in the mail (I should do them a favor and cancel myself off their mailing lists to save them the wasted money) I'm simply not interested in "Knives" anymore unless they are Rick's.
Which brings me to the inevitable day approaching when I sell off the "others".
Not that there is a Kings Ransom laying around but why have stuff that will never get used.

I hear you, Rubi. With the ubiquity of the Internet, I find my physical mail box less used over say a decade ago. If it's published, it's usually already "old" information. Announcements of future releases and events in an exception, but even printed newspapers are behind in our fast-paced World.

All that said, I feel ignorance is the most abundant and most offensive component of society so I stay somewhat in the loop of what other makers/manufacturers are doing. I came to Hinderer after owning/using/experiencing other knives. I darn sure do not know everything and that's another reason my username fits me well.

Here's my 9 yr old daughter Ruby who after waiting patiently for a year was finally rewarded with her first knife (pink Dragonfly). Taught her knife safety and showed her how to handle the knife. Now she's a whittling fiend. Not a Hinderer but wanted to share (Proud Papa). A couple Mom's complained to me at a BBQ Saturday that their daughters are begging for their own folders too...

God bless her, what an absolute doll Map!
Proud Daddy indeed! Enjoy these days, they go quick.

Maybe she can teach my Brothers how to open and close an XM

Uh oh, Map...and so it begins.

Luckily for her she's got a knife-minded guy to teach her well. Be careful, there are pink scales for XMs.

LOL! I actually have considered a pink scale for my 3" just to be different and unusual. I mean, who would be afraid of a pink handled knife?

Alright guys I just thought I would mention something funny that occurred to me today. Well actually it began a couple of months ago when I came home from work and as I was changing clothes I noticed my Hinderer was opened beside my night stand when I asked my girlfriend as to why it was opened she just replied that "the cat had knocked it off and opened it". Well I didnt put too much thought into it until today when she confessed jokingly that in fact she had used it and could not figure out how to close it. She went on to say that she was about to go one the Bladeforums pages and ask you all how to close it. Well all I could do was laugh and wonder what everyone's reaction would be. :D

Great story Knight. God bless her, she was probably scared to death in several ways, " OMG I am so busted !!" She was probably just hoping it wouldn't detonate or something :)
