Our "Front Porch" ....

I was hoping they would come by as he lay in state prostrate across the burial rock but only some rather rude insects stopped to pay their respects.
I have knocked off about 4-5 in the last 2 months - not sure how large the families get.
I'd be fine with them if they would just go live in an adjacent area and not burrow all through my plants and mulch beds.

Think I need to borrow you to deal with the squirrels around my yard. Tey're just as bad, and even more plentiful.

Yes. Tree Rats and Me have a long history together. For them I have a special weapon a Savage .17 with Nikon Scope.
Have dropped a family of Four from a branch 50 ft up with 4 shots (and it's a bolt action) they are not the brightest bulb in the pack.
Put the Four(4) bodies on the windshield of my x-sister in laws car ..... she comes and doesn't know when to leave so, I thought I'd give her a Hint. Apparently I was too subtle.
.17 round is quite an effective projectile. Actually is a good coyote killer as well. FAST = Lethal.

Rest in pieces, annoying critters.:)

True that my Friend - I "enhance" my hollow point .22 rds for just such effect. Devastating little round on critters.

....

You're right about .17. In my shooting days I loved that round for the same reason. Squirrels and rabbits didn't stand a chance.

Squirrels on the car, ROFLMAO!!!! Can't believe she didn't get the hint!

Can You Imagine!! I sorta can't believe I did it but, she is my x-wife's twin sister and my Daughters Aunt.... just will not stfu and leave, comes for 10 mins. Stays for a couple hours.
So, Four(4) DEAD squirrel carcases evenly spaced across the windshield - didn't even blink.
Drove away and used her winndshield wipers to move the last stubborn one.
I just shook my head and said, "Somethings never change" known her for 34 years.

Hahahahaha! that was a great telling of the chippy hunt! I had to very quickly scroll down when my fiance sat down next to me. Her family hunts everything that walks or flies here, and shes fine with that, but a chipmunk wouldn't go over well:D

My first post in this thread, but I've been lurking around for too long and I've gotten to talk to some of yall recently. I mentioned recently of my dad's passing and a little about of his gun collection. So assuming I do not give a damn about actual value here and I feel obligated to share the collection around with my family, I have a choice in 1911's. I have 2 1911's from his collection and wouldn't feel right about keeping both. One is a Desert Eagle 1911 G model and the other is a Remington 1911 R1. Sentimentality included, I prefer the Desert Eagle even in feel and I'm curious if I'm just being sentimental or is this particular gun on par? Sadly I was the knife guy and he was the gun guy so I'm at best average in gun knowledge. I know many of yall are better in this subject than me so if anyone has any gun input I'd definitely appreciate it!

Nj- Considering the nature of the item (who it came from) and the liklihood of you ever selling it - I think the over-arching factors are exactly preference and sentiment. Even though, I would say the two(2) weapons are on an even keel value wise, matters not.
Your feelings of fairness and equity are your own and a private matter but, answering the question you asked - Keep the one that means the most to YOU and to hell with everything else.
Again, Sorry for your loss.

NJH - Listen to Rubi, he is one of the most insightful persons you could hope to meet!

Your comment "Sadly I was the knife guy and he was the gun guy so I'm at best average in gun knowledge", no apologies needed for that, most of us here are like you, focus on knives after all this is Blade Forums:) Maybe for your dad it was guns, don't feel like it was the wrong decision for you. Although I am quite knowledgeable about guns and carried one occupationally for 35 yrs. (and still carry), first love has always been knives for me!

I'm on my way back to the sandbox, just thought I'd show the knives I'm taking with me. guess what'll get the most pocket time.... ;)

LW, be safe. This close to a date that will never be forgotten, all that serve are very much in my thoughts.

I'm setting aside geopolitical concerns/etc. and will just extend a thank you to those that do what needs done.

Thanks, guys. I'm going over as a civilian this time. I got hurt in Afg on active duty, and was medically retired. But somehow I was given the waivers I need to go as a civilian.

Thank you for your service! I really respect that, and I wish you a safe trip. God bless.

LW - be safe many of my friends went to Iraq plain clothes, no military support, and much government denial. One of my best friends in SWAT worked for a company that worked for a company, they took care of a lot of problems that was off limits to the military. He had many issues upon his return to stateside, I said enough, as Rubi once said the drones have been given our coordinates.

Whatever you are about to embark on, give it much consideration, you did your duty and are paying for it.
Thank you again for your service!
