Out with the old in with the new.. Thoughts on the Mannix 2

I had an opportunity to handle a Mannix 2 XL the other day. That blade just shot out so fast with almost no effort. I was truly impressed. I should have whipped out the credit card just as fast right then but I didn't. It had something to do with the credit card "wife" lock, if you know what I mean. That lock can be even faster sometimes. :D

Yes, My Manix XL is extremely fast and smooth as well.

I have the same restrictions now on my buying habits. Lol! My eyes have been caught by the PM 2.

The ball bearing lock is one of my fave locks. I love all my Manix2's. I have a couple older ones with saber ground 154CM and some newer ones with ffg S30V. A little wide but not an issue for me whatsoever.

I just pre-ordered the Manix 2 XL S110V. The Spyderco I can't seem to put down these days is the PM 2/CTS104P, but the lock, steel and weight of this particular Manix keeps catching my eye. For every rave review there's a negative one, so I guess I'll just have to buy one to see whether it's for me or not. Seems like they sell out fast enough that I'll be able to sell it on the Exchange if it doesn't work for me.

I actually haven't read too many bad reviews on it. What have you heard? I got it the minute it was released, hated it, then tried to sell it... then regretted it. Its exactly what you said.. great lock, blade, and weight.

Edit: only negative for me, is the lock is tough disengaging one handed.

I have not held an xl, the Manix 2 fits my hand like the Strider I carried on duty for so many years. The weight is also comparable. I paid so much more for the Strider and the Manix 2 is every bit the quality. Let me know why you think of the xl. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hi. I actually have the S110V in FRN. No XL for me. The S110V is already pushing the limits of edc for me.

But yeah, I have had some more expensive stuff and have just started to realize.. it doesn't really make me enjoy the knife any more.

I have pretty normal sized hands, and though the manix xl is a bit of a beast, I actually find it more comfortable in hand than the regular manix.

Thanks John for sending me a knife that likes to smoke and drink wine. Fits in perfectly here lol. Really, I appreciate your honesty and candor.

Murphdog pick up a basic membership for $10 and trade the Caly for a Pm2 straight up if you are not going to use it.
