Overnighter in Harriman State park

Awesome photos as usual Tony, man those hills remind me a lot of here. Crawfish make an AWESOME meal if you can catch enough of them, there aren't as many here these days and the ones that are here are small. Which knife is that you are you batoning with? In the 14th pic down which tomahawk is that?

Great pics John:thumbup:

That would be the Junglas.

I have no idea what the name of that tacticool hawk thing was. Between that thing and the Moras that were being used I thought I was going to be sick...

:p

I thought that was a Junglas but wasn't sure.

Yeah yeah, I'm with you on the moras. As for the hawks...well I like to spend a lot of time in more secluded areas. I like a tool that can fill multiple roles. Also I have noticed in my travels that some people like to practice alternative forms of the culinary arts in some of the more secluded areas here. From what I've seen and read, some of these people aren't exactly the most clear thinkers (long-term sleep deprivation is a monster that plays havoc on the ol' brain cells ya know) sooo...lets just say I am a fan of having options.

You don't have to defend your liking of hawks to me bro. I respect everyone's opinion of tools. I appreciate it when I see a tool being used effectively no matter how ugly the tool is. I hate Mora's, but I will never say they are a bad tool. I dislike many tactical style knives or hawks, but I have seen them used with efficiency as well. I enjoy your pics and reviews of the knives and tools you use, even the ugly ass tactical ones.. :p keep up the good work Mist.

That's cool bro, thanks. I'm glad you enjoy the posts

Yeah, much like not all of us can be as purdy as you, not all efficient tools are going to be as much works of art as that FB Ladyfinger of yours ;)

For some needs all that really matters is a good grip and a sharp edge. True beauty lies not only in the eyes of the beholders, but also in the circumstances those beholders find themselves immersed in at that particular moment in time :D

Wow, looks like you guys had a great time. Great pics too.

Did you guys eat those crawfish?

Looks like a great time. Can't wait to get out in the woods.

Great pics. What a beautiful place, the Hudson Valley and surrounding region must have an absolute paradise when it was first settled, it's nice that there are still areas that are undisturbed. Thanks for posting.

Be still my beating heart! Please tell me that is Spam I see on the grill!

Yeah, and I don't know how you guys eat that crap:barf:

Yeah, I grew up on that stuff. It was the hight of the cold war and mom and dad stocked up on it. Mom was a head cashier at Krogers then and got good deals on any dented cans so we had a LOT of it and other stuff stored in our basement. I keep it on hand for emergencies but have yet to be able to feed it to my kids. If things get bad enough I will with no problem. Hell I bought a can of Danish ham the other day and learned it is now processed too :(

Enjoyed the pics, thanks for sharing guys.
Question for Tony: Mora haters club president?

john, thanks for the pics and the hawaiian surprise! your camera must be magical - i don't have the crazy eyes on that one, or maybe it's because i wasn't holding a machete that time!

:p

you forgot to add spam in that list :D i'll bring you a small container of that hot sauce on the next outing.

???????? I'm not sure I really want to know, but what do mean by "alternative forms of the culinary arts?"

Alternative in that the ingredients used for the most part come from a hardware store rather than a grocery store. To the credit of our local guys in uniform, I have found less sign of meth labs in the woods here in the last few years.

Just me being me. Try not to take my title and sig too seriously... ;)

Tony cant stand that Mora's are so affordable, and out cut his customs....it just drives him CRAZY.
Great pics guys, wish I was there..I would have skipped the Wiskey though. I dont agree with that stuff, and it doesnt agree with me either.

With statements like the one I bolded, it appears you should skip the crack also... :p
