I traded a Knife for some Maxpedition bags last month .

He sent the bags to me

and I mailed the knife(on 2-19-10)

I received the package he sent but he has still never received the Knife I sent.

Tracking # is LC169623626US

It shows the post office accepted it on 2-19-10---and that's it.

The postman tells me there is no way to track it..

The man I sent it to is very well respected on these forums and I trust him when he tells me it has not arrived as of yet.

Anyone have any idea's??

Thanks

Dr.Bill

What country did you ship to?
Probably it's going through customs procedure.
Sometimes it takes that long.

Netherlands have funny knife laws
It'll depend on the type of the knife
If it gonna be "military" type knife, like SOG for example, - they might confiscate it
I once sent a SOG S25 and it has never made its way to the buyer

Never ask US sellers for first class mail international, it is not trackable. Risky option.
If first class, then with "registered" option, which cost $11 more to EU.

It is possible that the Dutch Customs have flagged the package and it is in line to be inspected. In which case the time delay may be explainable.
It may yet arrive safe and sound. My advice would be to wait a little longer and see if you have a result.

If you cannot ship International Express, then do not use the USPS. Customs in these countries know that anything less you cannot insure or track. Also, the USPS contracts out the higher end options to FedEx and UPS which know how to get stuff through customs without much rifling.

Until International Express came along we would lose the biggest part of shipments. Either never show up or an empty box with customs tape would be delivered. We halted all international sales for several years due to this...

Hate to hear you lost one, maybe it will show up. I had one fall off the radar screen around Christmas but showed up a week later.

Depends on the country--I live in Hong Kong and First Class Mail ALWAYS gets here in seven working days. The NL is problematic, so Express would have been the way to go. I hope it wasn't an auto!

It was a fixed blade--

I will keep you posted on what happens

THANK YOU all for taking the time to respond!!
