Welp, been throwing my name in the hat for the weekly Oz Rosie lottery, never thought I'd actually get drawn because I don't cheat with multiple e-mails or having all my friends and family register for me as well. But, I got drawn Sunday, so I guess I'm going to find out what the Oz Rosie is all about...

I noticed all the threads are in the sales forums, so I just wanted to get a thread going for discussion and pictures. Who's got pictures? Who's got reviews?

I got drawn in the first lottery I ever entered and owned #0975 (pj, stonewashed, Magnacut) for quite a while. For a long time it was right up there in the "favorite knife" discussion and I think the hype is well-deserved. I continued entering the lottos in hopes of getting drawn for something with some milling but have never gotten pulled again. I will probably own another someday and I will just buy it on the secondary to get the exact config that I want...either golf putter or radial frag with a Magnacut blade. They are available pretty regularly but it isn't a priority for me right now.

I'd love to try one of the skeletonized ones but they're pretty unobtanium and I'm not interested in counterfeits. The combination of not being sure that it would be my ideal configuration and inflated secondary market prices due to limited production makes that the one configuration I likely would not buy on the secondary market. If I won a lotto for one I would happily pay table to check it out and know that I could sell it and get my money back if I didn't love it. The only time I enter the lottos these days is when they do a run of skeletonized and that isn't very often.

I liked the Rosie enough that I was really excited to see what Daniel pulled out of the hat next, and was pretty disappointed that all he had was "hey look I made it bigger". I would have been more open to a bigger Rosie if it was a redesign/revamp, not just the exact same knife at 125% scale. I loved the Rosie for being a small knife without really feeling like a small knife in use. The XL just looks awkward and not proportional at all. At this point I'm starting to think he's just going to ride the Roosevelt/XL train until the lottos stop selling out, which very well could be never. More power to him for being so successful with his very first design.

One lonely XL here. It's sqaurly in my top five and I'll be getting more for sure. Not because of the hype, because it's great. Not a complaint one.

I did add skiffs just for fun, but that's all I'll change unless a timascus or zircuti pocket clip comes along for a good price.

Here's XL #273 checking in, I did a skiffs swap on mine as well! Great knife , really excellent machining on the scales and clip. Definitely a keeper! Fun fact, there is a spare stop pin in the backspacer, at least on mine there is 😁

Just so you know OP, I started a Rosie specific thread when I got mine in, they really are that good 😁

I am a fan of the regular or original Rosie….. really is a sweet office carry. Does not create a ‘Karen from HR’ issue. The XL is just not my jam. Blade is crazy tall and will have HR knocking on my office door with headache I don’t need.

The reputation of their smooth action is well deserved. Exceptionally well made. They are in my top 3 with HMC and Holt.

Pricing on the secondary is still out of control. But if you watch the facebook B/S/T pages you can grab one a hundred or two over table.

I have gotten lucky on 1 drop. The others I have grabbed on the secondary mostly via trades. I tend to get obsessed with a maker for 6 months, collect a bunch, find the configuration I like in hand / pocket and then start trading or selling the others to fund up the next 6 months of a maker. paired down my Koenig and Eutsler collection to fund up the OZ shelf.IMG_7629.jpegIMG_7628.jpeg

I guess I’m lucky, I hit the lotto twice already this year. Sold the first one as it was just too small for me. When the XL arrived I fell in love. It just feels so good in hand.

I really like the blue but feel like the knife can use a little something to make it pop. Can’t decide if I’m going to mod it (maybe acid wash the blade) or just get another 😎

Congrats & enjoy!IMG_1426.jpegIMG_1676.jpeg

Couple recent pickups. I love the XL! The blue one is for sale BTW, a recent drop.

What is the table price on these for a pj?
I haven't seen a really, really plane jane version, but the most basic model seems to be Elmax, MagnaCut, M390, or Vanax (haven't seen this change the price, seems to just be done in runs or based on availability of steel maybe), with varying handle milling patterns and anodizing for $750. The lottery I won was Elmax with plain ti and speed holes, which is about as basic as they seem to get.

The XL is a bit more. Timascus small parts seems to be the only upcharge. You also get dinged $25 for shipping, so it ends up being $775 if you get drawn in the lotto and it was a pretty basic model. They seem to have about 100 knives usually split between XL and standard Rosie in two to four different configurations, open for lotto entries on Friday or Saturday, and draw on Sunday. You have to pay shortly after you get the invoice, and the invoices go out over about an hour on Sunday night. You can enter the lotto separately for any of the models that interest you, but only one lotto entry per knife variation.

EDIT: The skeletonized one seems to be weirdly super popular and I think is also more expensive, understandably due to the loads of extra machine time.

For those looking for the plain Jane version, it’s up for lotto now. Elmax, dark stonewash scales, stonewashed blade. Ends tomorrow evening.

I won a golf putter anodized one already, and am not entering. Waiting on a blinged-out XL.

Good luck!
