Package delivered... But missing.

It doesn't guarantee the item was delivered to the right address. I just dealt with this issue not to long ago. Package was marked delivered. It was but not to me. Showed up two days later. They had delivered it to the wrong address.

Richard, I was referring to delivery confirmation, not signature confirmation. It's good that you require it. Signature confirmation is about as far as a seller can go to guarantee a package gets delivered. I believe BladeHQ requires it on all of their sales because of issues with lost/mis-delivered packages.

I have only used signature confirmation 2 times and I been shipping for 20 years. when I first started out I just shiped first class mail. then I joined this form and started reading about all of the knifes and no prof that they where even shiped. after that I started doing delivery confirmation and been doing that ever since.

A few months ago I bought a new computer, so naturally I had to order new peripherals to go along with it. Amongst one of the many items I purchased was a new mouse ($90.00), I very frequently keep up to date on the tracking of items since I do believe it's my responsibility and the courier's. Turns out, I checked it the day it was suppose to arrive and it showed it was delivered at 3:00pm. I searched around the outside of the house and in some slightly hidden places where drivers sometimes leave items and found no sign of it. I immediately called the shipping service and let them know the situation. They got into contact with the driver and it turns out he delivered it to a house a couple blocks away. Don't know how. Anyway, a couple hours later he showed up at my door and apologized and had my package.

Putting that little extra effort into keeping track of your deliveries can go a long way. Humans make mistakes, just like this guy did.

Additionally, for those with super busy lifestyles, FedEx offers a Hold at Location service where they will hold a package at one of their many FedEx Office locations. It's a super convenient service and also places nearly all the responsibility on the courier. With high value items that I purchase I willingly pay the extra few dollars at times to have it shipped FedEx Ground and held at their stores. It makes me feel much more secure in my purchase.

Just my two-cents. Goodluck, OP.

USPS has this option as well

"He also does not believe that it is his duty to check into the matter on his end any further"

Sounds to me like a very strange reply, If it were me, I would try whatever I can do to recover the item.

To the OP, IMHO it was your responsibility to ship the item in a timely fashion, not to deliver it.....

Very strange indeed

 You've done all you can if the buyers not willing to do anything then its on him,let it go , If he gets off his butt and takes some action and still can't find the package, then you need to ask yourself is 50 bucks worth my good rep or should I reimburse the buyer for his "lost package" No one knows except the buyer, he may have the knife right now and is just trying to get you to refund the money and get a free knife, no one really knows except him or her.
In the end it's gonna be your call but because of threads like this I use signature confirmation on almost all the knives I sell or trade...

I bought a ZT Shroud cutter from a well known seller on BF that went missing. I emailed a week after I paid him asking if he had shipped it, only to find that it had already been delivered (not to me). He offered me a full refund because I didn't get what I paid for, I declined because he did everything right on his end and I felt it was the P.O. fault and my responsibility to find it.

Things happen. You did what you could, its on the buyer now.
