pants suggestions?

OK, that commercial is a classic.

Yea, I'm cheap. TAD and Crye are amazing but I'm REALLY hard on clothes. I have jeans that are only about a year old and they have rips, tears and blood stains already. Had they cost me more than $40, I'd "Crye" like a girl. Might be where they got the name.:D

Well your not supposed to dry hump rocks and sand.
I'm tough on pants too and my Mountain Khakis have out lasted any other pant in that style

Call me crazy, but I'm on the third page of this and there has been no formal mention of ESEE panties.....? :D

Carhartt has always gotten my money for hard-use outdoor clothing - things like gloves, coveralls, stocking caps, coats, sweatshirts, et cetera. Their jeans and other clothing lines are also great.

When it comes to sealing and paving, I'll stick with $9-a-pair Wal Mart jeans, though. That sealer and 325-degree asphalt will pretty much ruin the pants (and your washer or drier) if you get it on them. I sometimes wish, four generations ago, my great grandpa picked knife or gun manufacturing as the family business instead of asphalt contracting. He didn't, but I still love my job. It really gives you a sense of pride in your work to have your name over the door.

That was completely off topic, sorry. :)

Take care and God bless.

Wade

I'm wearing a pair of Carhartt carpos today. Just not thrilled with the fit but I'm built like a rhino so YMMV.

Looking at Blackhawk Lightweight tacticle or Performance cotton pants.
I like the cargo/bdu style pants. Feels good, dries fast and i love the the pockets. Have a few pretty cheap(20 orso bucks) pair, they fit great but wont last longer than 3/4 of a year.

I agree with Carhartts for out door work in the cold. I'll never forget the time I had to scrub off the tanks at a disposal well during winter. One of the watertruck drivers wasnt paying attention and over flowed a couple of the 210 tanks. Being the newest guy meant it was my job to clean it up while the other two guys stood between the tanks huddled together trying to stay warm because the wind chill was -29. So I go up wearing pretty light weight pants(think dickies type material) and some shitty uniform company jacket with a bucket of gas and some rags. After the first 10 minutes I was covered in gas and with that wind hitting me, well, I was having a pretty bad day. The other two guys kept hollering "Hurry up man its cold out here". I couldn't even argue or offer any comebacks. I told em one time "Im so cold Im angry". They left me alone after that and I finished up and jumped back in the truck. Now wiping off the tanks probably took 25-35 minutes...45 at the most but it felt like an eternity.

The very next day I bought the Carhartts artic lined bibs and some Matterhorn mining boots... But I'll never ever forget what that wind blowing through those gas soaked clothes felt like. I stood infront of a torpedo heater for a few hours after getting back to the shop. I will check out the Carhartts pants as well. Thanks guys.

That sounds like an accident waiting to happen:eek:

I changed clothes and rinsed off after getting back to the shop. But your right about the way I made it sound...
Another thing to watch out for are the fumes from tank batteries. I never had any mishaps with the fumes but our pumper(someone who turns on the pump jacks and changes charts and what not) was gauging a tank one time and passed out. He had the radio in his truck turned on listening to some show or something and said he woke up on the ground and atleast 45 minutes had passed. Luckily he fell backwards and didnt fall forward into the manhole or he would have never came to. And if that wasnt enough I heard stories about some penny pinching amish guy who wanted every last bit of oil out of his tanks so he would lower his little 8 year old boy in with a squegy to scrape up every little bit.
