Pappy Memorial/raffle pledge thread

The Paypal ticket sales have slowed down...I will be unavailable the last week of Aug and the first Week of Sept. When shall I cut this off and send the money to you munk? I also need to get the names and number of tickets each holds.

Finally...is it safe to assume that you have already offered to help the family auction off Pappy's knives to ensure that they get a fair price?

I know that I count on you all to help Ms. Nasty sell mine when the time comes...

Anyways, for all you who havent yet contributed, whatchya waiting for. Tis a great cause for one of the good guys. But if you didnt know Pappy, in the very least there is something about the khuks when they still came in tooled scabbards that were just a little more magical, and can you believe how many people have chosen to bow out the raffle. Your chances are real good, but if you dont buy a ticket you can never ride the roller coaster. Fredrico

:( We CHOOSE to bow out of the raffle. Appears some negative thoughts about NOT donating for GAIN OF A KHUKURI, rather than rememberance and helping Mrs Peasley out in sorry times.

Some of us sent cards and sizeable donations direct to Mrs Peasley BEFORE this forum subject came up.

I've also had a few just making donations through Paypal...no raffle tickets desired. I considered posting those names...but they already know who they are. Good karma and noted in the big book folks!

Pappy's knives are being willed to various family members- he told me so. He'd just kidded them they'd have to wait.

I have been very busy and have not done all the emails yet. I need to make a list of who said what and write it down.

Anyone who makes a donation or simply gets a couple raffle tickets is a good person in my view.

A good point though is because I did not start this soon enough, many have already made a direct donation and will not then be buying a raffle ticket. My fault. But that's only a problem if you choose to look at it that way.

Should we call off the raffle if the numerical amount seems to be too little? Do we care if some lucky person gets good odds at the knife? And is it unfair to the donator of the knife?

I wanted to take the whole amount- donations, tickets, put them in one check with a big note- from us at HI forum. That doesn't mean less or take away from the donations already made- the Peasleys know we have prayed as a group and are helping.

In essence- none of this matters. We will have helped.

just an idea, not a recomendation neccesarily, but would letting those who already made donations convert the amount into raffle tickets if they so desired be a good thing?

munk

munk?

Based on what I've seen of the caliber of the folks in the Cantina, the raffle blade has virtually nothing to do with any contributions they have made. They simply wanted Pappy's family to have something, as well as knowing that Jerry made a difference to us.

So converting the other $ to raffle chances probably is unnecessary. The BAS had nothing to with any of the gifts to the Peaseley family.

Nice thought, though.

Hang in.

Munk, you and Nasty are doing all the work. If any of this gets to be too much work for either of you, give the khuk to whoever you want. Or nobody. We ain't in this for the tickets.

Lcs37 there are no negative thoughts about not joining a raffle to just gain a khukri, at least there were none intended. I personally wanted to join a forum effort to send a lump sum to Pappy's family (I am not participating in the raffle either), for the whole group sentiment, and if I had more money I would have sent it direct much sooner. However, funds are not always as willing as the heart. Anyways, it was just a call for those who can and havent, to reconsider, even if the only reason to participate would be a mundane thought of gaining a khukri. It was not some negative attack to those who havent posted in this thread, as I assumed most would not even bother to post. Anyways, just wanted to clear it up, there was no intended attack or negative energy to those not joining the raffle, just an extra call for those who havent done anything and are able to, to re-consider.

It's win win win no matter how, or what we do, as long as departed friend Jerry's wife gets a little help.

well heck, if that knife is causing a problem, just send it to me and let people donate with a clear conscience!!

The original idea was to auction off a K and give the money to Pappy's widow. So I bought a $5 ticket and sent extra 'cause I wanted to for Pappy. We've done this auction thing in the past for other good causes.

As long as the money goes to Pappy's widow, the K is irrevelant. But it would be nice to win and then remember Pappy every time you picked it up.

My point is that Pappy's memory is what counts, not the khuk. Like most of you here, I already have enough K's to last several lifetimes.

Got your email munk. Sent one back your way. If there are those that feel left out about the raffle feel free to give my tickets to them so that they can have a slot. Kismet, Aardvark, Semper Fi and I am sure others above covered the issue better then I could at the moment so I will just go with the thoughts put forth in their post. Thanks

Just a reminder to everyone- Please Email me for address information. I see Mark wanted it and I finally sent it to him, but Yvsa is right- it's a lot easier if folks who want in email me rather than I try to find them.

We are doing it this way out of courtesy for my privacy and yours.

It's started to pick up a little, with Mark and a couple others weighing in.

thank you again

Munk:

Sorry I have not been paying attention and am only getting involved in this thread now, so am not sure what the procedure is. Let me know what's up and I can PayPal where you say. The raffle is a nice thought and I don't mind entering anything where I can win a khuk :) but will be glad to contribute in any case.

Anyway, private e-mail sent to you.

Thanks,

Norm

P.S. Pappy was part of the Cantina and that's enough, but I wish I had known him better, or at least as well as I "know" those of you that I have never met.
