Pappy Memorial/raffle pledge thread

Thanks,

Norm

P.S. Pappy was part of the Cantina and that's enough, but I wish I had known him better, or at least as well as I "know" those of you that I have never met.
Norm, by knowing the good guys here you know Pappy. He was right near the top of the list and always will be in my book.
But I know what you're saying and I wish you could've known Pappy better too.

I wish everyone could know someone like Pappy once in their life, and pay attention to what kind of man they are and what they have to say. The world would be a better place.

Those men are around Edutsi...each of us just have to keep our eyes and ears open for them. Heck, we may even have a few more around here...

Got out and sent something for Pappy, and separately mailed a little something for munk. Post Office said three days to get there First Class.

I am sorry to hear about Pappy.
I have been offline since I moved from NJ back to CA. Nasty, I will paypal you something for the fund.

Several of you have said you are 'sending money' but haven't specified particapation in the raffle or the amount; it might help to let me know.

Do you guys want a master list published here? Some folks want to be annon. We could call them annon 1, 2, etc.

It looks like it's going to be a nice sum. Well over 400 anyway.

How about writing forum names in the memo section of any checks sent to me?

Your real names, forum names, and various other names are starting to float around in my head without anchor.

munk

munk - Most of the guys I have talked to have stated their preference to keep their names (and amounts) quiet. I think those that don't care have already announced their participation here...

I think perhaps even the amount should be between you and the family. I'd also suggest that only the funds actually passing through your hands are entered in the raffle.

.
Nasty, I'll have to email. You raised too many questions. I doubt seriously that anyone would be offended by the total being known, and do not understand the distinction between money through my hands and paypal participation in the raffle.

munk

munk and I are emailing, but for the rest...the Paypal funds *will* be passing through munks hands. Once we decide to cut off Paypal for donations, I will advance the total amount to munk while I await the check as reimbursement from Paypal. This way, munk can deliver a single check to Pappy's family.

Actually, we might not even do that- maybe the paypal and one check can be syncronised to arrive nearly together at the Peasley home. I may not even have to bother seeing the paypal. Nasty and I are going to figure out the best way tomorow.

The main thing is this- those of you requesting privacy have it. Those of you wanting to make donations instead of raffle, or some combo therin, this will be done.

I've never done this before.
These things are easy as long as someonelse does them- that's been my motto. But this time it was my turn. That's all. Doesn't mean I brought any particular skill to the table.

I gotta tell you guys this- for 6 days now I've mostly been eating standing up. I can't go from 30 seconds to about 7 minutes, max, during all waking moments, without something happening around here. My wife went on a extended training and three little boys are home 24-7. Just when you think life might be good the two year old has a load to take care of, the four year old slugs the eight year old, and all of them need baths.

If authority saw my house inside yesterday they'd lead me away in cuffs. Hey- I thought it was a good idea to use every last dish in the house..
The freezer's content was dethawed by electrical overload and I've been cooking vast plates of chicken and steak and everything else. Then I have to pick it off the walls and floors from the littlest guy...

I knew there was a reason I got involved in this...I'm the organizer, pretty much do it for a living except that when you have a degree in Systems Engineering it's called Program Management.

Go to bed munk...

Nasty should have received my PayPal payment. I Hope Mrs. Peasley is coping well with her loss...

Quick update ~ Bura sirupati left this morning Priority Mail to Ferrous (thanks to my beautiful wife)! It should be to him by Friday is what the clerk told my honey. It was supposed to leave yesterday , but we were busy giving Munk a run for his money as far as household mayhem is concerned :p

Munk, hang tough buddy! I have four of the monsters (oldest is 15 now) and it does get easier in some respects.

Just noticed that Kismet and I were both checking out how things were going on this thread. Typical.

Munk, Nasty, and everyone else involved, your privacy is respected ( the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing ), but I suspect the forum's balance with the Karmic credit union is growing steadily.

I know he's already mentioned sending munk something for Pappy, but let's not forget the guy who opened this particular Karmic account in the first place was Uncle Bill.

I think you all know what I'm trying to say - maybe it isn't much, but sometimes it can make a hell of a difference. Thanks all.

I've been off center and off key-
and Rusty confused me here: "but let's not forget the guy who opened this particular Karmic account in the first place was Uncle Bill."

I thought, Rusty's not talking about who donated first, because that's not like him, and who cares, and we're not picking finish postions, and and and besides, Uncle Bill was not. It was Aardvark. What am I reading?

And then I saw this:
""but I suspect the forum's balance with the Karmic credit union is growing steadily"" and: ""I know he's already mentioned sending munk something for Pappy,""

and then once more, " but let's not forget the guy who opened this particular Karmic account in the first place was Uncle Bill.""

And I finally understood. That's the way my mind works these late nights- back to the start for the finish.

Uncle Bill brought us this place so we could be ourselves. And we turn around and give back to others, as he did from the first when he made this HI forum HI business, not just here, but for those in Nepal.
