para 2 or manix 2 xl?

To be honest I hate how much the Manix 2 XL sticks out of the pocket sometimes. But at the moment, my hands just melt straight into the handle, I feel lucky to have "Manix hands".

I have all 4 of the knives mentioned- Military, PM2, Manix 2, Manix 2 XL. Between the PM2 and Manix 2, I like the PM2 better for EDC and the Manix 2 for working. I carry the Military in my EDC rotation as well. I have the XL and seem to like it but haven't started carrying it yet.

I have manix 2 ffg and PM2. Manix 2 is built like a tank, it is strong and tough, but a bit bulky and feels like a brick in pocket. I prefer to EDC PM2 because it's weight and it's easier to wash because it's fully open design. I have never used any lubricant on PM2 and it is smooth as silk with super tight lockup. On PM2 pivot screw's are fully tightened but on manix I have to find the best spot and it is always compromise between smooth motion and no blade play (side to side). I like the ball lock more than compression lock on PM2.

Well, i have a pm2 on its way. I cant until it gets here....the only thing is its a christmas gift. So i have to wait.

Congratulations on a new knife. You will have a masterpiece that will well last you for a lifetime. Great choice, either of them!

Haven't seen much talk of locking mechanisms on this thread so far--Having handled the Manix only, I was surprised at the pressure required to disengage the Caged Ball Lock. But I only held it for a minute so I imagine it gets easier with use after learning how to handle it. I've only seen videos of the PM2 unfortunately, but it's currently my most desired knife for sure. Only drawback to the locking mechanism seems to be the occasional finger skin pinch between the lock and the liner. I like the shape of the PM2 better, but the Manix looks beefier and would probably rest in a large hand a little more assuredly. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either--I love my Delica4..it's the perfect size and shape for deep back pocket carrying. Endura is on the short list though!

edit: just saw you purchased PM2. Pics when it comes!

CONGRATULATIONS!
To help hold you over til yours arrives. Top, a Paramilitary 2 in S30V, and the bottom one is a Paramilitary in D2.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! :)

PS, I think you made a wise choice. ;)

The Manix seems to have more engineering put into it. It may be unavoidable for it/one of them to have some degree of play with the lock. Sometimes it takes tinkering to get rid of the play, but still have it loose. UPDATE,this is embarresing but right after I said that my Manix started having play ugh...

Don't get me wrong, the manix can be tweaked to have really good and fairly free movement, with no blade play. But PM2 is truly trouble free and I have never had issues. Perfect lockup, and glides freely.

I can't seem to eliminate my blade play, hm. Wait, how far down the blade should you hold it when testing for play?

I do not regret my manix XL for a second after carrying it for work. Its large but you can de-bone a chicken with it, clean it and baton wood with it the next day.

Soon I'll own a pm2 to complete the duo. But I find myself thinking I really might not need it as much as I want a manix sprint run

Our of country shipping can be cheaper through KnifeCenter, but I've bought several Spydies from KnifeWorks without incident and would definitely recommend them.

Ok thanks, thats where mine was ordered. I always see people talking fakes and i wanted to make sure they were reputable.

Either one is a good choice. Sounds like you got the pm2. Now you just need the manix lx and can decide for your self :).

Definitely reco the PM2. I've had a lot of them, and love 'em.
The manix is a good knife, but the xl is a beast. I'd say no to the xl.

the manix 2 xl has an absurd amount of the knife sticking out of the pocket when clipped. And the width when closed is also very large. Those two things ruin the knife for me so i have never gotten one. I do own a para 2 and it is the best knife for around $120 dollars hands down. I just feel that it outshines the manix in a lot of aspects, so will agree with me others won't but i vote para 2
