Alright dudes, I realize that the question has probably been asked before, but now that the Para 3 has been around for a while, would really like to hear from folks who have had both. Which do you prefer for EDC and why? I don't have a 3" restriction where I live, so that is not a factor. I'm most concerned that the PM2 will hog too much pocket space, don't care about how scary it looks etc. I'm consider the regular Para 3, not the lightweight model. Thank you all in advance for your input.

I have never owned a Pm2 but I have a Para 3 and I really enjoy it. Not the longest blade but for most EDC tasks it's never come up short. I think a new clip for the 3 is personally required though.

Let us know what you choose.

Voted Para 3. For a utility knife the size is just fine and PM2-sized knives generally feel too uncomfortable in my pocket. If I need one that big I'll use a fixed blade anyway.

I own both. I hardly ever carry the 3. I don't notice the difference in the pocket and I prefer the 2 in the hand.

Both are fantastic for EDC.

Their profile carries a little weird in the pocket compared to something like the Benchmade Bugout, but if you don't mind a little more bulk the PM2 is awesome.

I
The PM2 is great but if blade length doesn't matter, go for the Military... less is best isn't always true.
I really need to try a military ASAP! They seem like such great knives for all types of tasks, especially food prep ;)

From May to October, I am in bathers - Para 3. Shoulder seasons - PM2. And when it is cold enough for gloves - the Military.

Tossup really. I have a Para 3 lightweight in Spy27 and a customized PM2.

I agree in that the g-10 para 3 and the PM2 need a deep carry clip.

My spydie collection. Haven't been carrying my pm2 lately, can't seem to get the clip screws tight.

I only have the Para 3, and it’s fantastic for the compact EDC role. It’s light, comfortable in the pocket, and takes up little space. When I do use it, I don’t feel “underknifed” by any means. You get enough blade length for the job.

The PM2 would probably fit the job just as well, otherwise it wouldn’t enjoy massive popularity. :D It seems to be one of those big blades sized just right. Never picked one up though because I already have my CS Recon 1 and AK-47 for the big blade role.

I don't own both....actually, until the PM2 I ordered this evening arrives, I own neither.

I EDC'd an Endura for many years, so for me, the PM2 is definitely able to be EDC'd.

I've handled several PM2's at gun shops but always chosen the PM3 instead because it feels less bulky in the pocket, has plenty of reach for EDC, and feels better in my hands. Now I've got 3 PM3 models and rotate them regularly.

Obviously the PM2 is popular for a reason. I doubt you'll be disappointed with whichever you choose.

In my opinion the 2 is the perfect size as long as you don’t have legal restrictions. I tried a 3 a couple of times and it always felt a little small. If I do carry smaller I prefer the delica.

I only have the 3 and feel like its a great edc but i will probably get a 2 sometime in the future just because

I have both and I love both but I went with the PM2 over all but that’s me..they are both excellent knives,2 of my personal favorites..while I personally prefer the 2 I could completely understand why others would prefer the PM3 for EDC as it is a little bit smaller yet still plenty big enough for anything you should want from an EDC knife..both are are nearly perfect designs IMO,they just feel great in the hand in multiple different grips and I love how you can really get up on that with the choil and thumb ramp for precision work..I’ve EDCed many knives but none as much as the PM2 with the PM3 being not far behind.in all honesty;you really can’t go wrong with either choice..if you are still on the fence after this thread,I would recommend finding a Spyderco dealer in your area where you can handle them both and decide which feels best to you

Get the one that feels good in your hands. As for me the 2 is more comfortable to use and its not that large to edc in the front pockets.
