My vote is for the PM2. The PM2 feels better and carries nicely in my pocket. I never feel short changed carrying it. The Para 3 is also a nice knife.

if there are no limitations of size, one is worth the other. but para 3 for every day is fine .... it goes much more unnoticed

I own several of both, and the PM2 was my first Spyderco ever. For me personally the Para 3 wins hands down for EDC, but I also work in an office setting and also prefer smaller knives. Oh, and I actually prefer the LW over the G10.

My 3 favorite Para 3's.

I agree on the lightweight. I like the smaller lanyard hole and standard deep carry clip.

This may sound crazy, but I really dislike the lightweight models. I have nothing agains FRN, but FRN without steel liners feels "cheap" to me. Also the blades were not centered on the LW models I have seen. I love the sturdy feel that liners provide and to me blade centering matters (I know it is silly).

I have both. I used to carry my PM2 before I got my Para 3. Now my edc is a the Para 3 (Blurple in S110v)
Both are good blades. Whatever you are happy with!!

I'm of the opinion that 3.5" is the smallest folder carry. The pm2 is nice, but
I wish they sold a PMxl

I own both (have also carried and used both) and prefer the PM2. More blade, more handle, and doesn’t take up much more space in pocket. I’m hanging on to the Para 3 to gift to my kid as his first real knife.

I have both and they are fine knives, it really just boils down to personal preference, hand size, use, etc. I prefer my Burple Para3 since it is more pocket friendly and suits my need well.

You guys are going to laugh. I know I said I didn't like the Para 3 LW, which I thought I didn't. I handled one when they fist came out and it felt "cheap" to me. Well, my knife preferences must be changing, because this thread encouraged me to give the LW another try and I ended up taking one home! Absolutely love the Para 3 LW, I don't understand why a yr back I passed on it - go figure. I still ordered a PM2--the s35vn sprint run with brown G10 scales--it is currently en route to my home :). Thank you everyone for your feedback, I am SO glad a few of you mentioned the LW as a formidable contender, even though I initially pooh-poohed it.

I would like to see a Paramilitary2 length handle offered in FRN with their texture. Then I would attempt to put a Para3 blade on it.:D

After owning both, my vote goes to the Para 3. Perfect length handle and adequate blade length. Add some new scales and it becomes an awesome EDC!7C89B145-FB2E-47EE-8695-0BD00A26FE8D.jpeg

The problem I see with the Military, Paramilitary 2 or Para3 is that no matter the blade length, they three are almost as wide (thanks to the leaf shaped blade). When I talk about pocket space I am usually thinking about width or how it narrows the entrance to the pocket and gets in the way when picking up things from the bottom. The problem then is the width of the knife... not the length.

If you want something that "feels" smaller, I would suggest you pick up a slimmer knife. If you want to stay in Spyderco territory, then Delica or Endura are wise choices. If you also want G10, then the G10 Police (great blade length to handle size ratio).

If your problem is that when you sit down in the car or at work, the knife digs in your leg... well, then length becomes a problem as well.

Right now I am carrying a Tenacious and while it is a different animal, it also suffers from the same problem. Wide blade. I also own a Resilence and while substantially longer, is not much wider.
