I just ordered my first para 2. I am waiting patiently(well trying to at least) for it to arrive. While I am waiting, I would love to hear from some people about their first time handling a para military 2. What were your initial reactions? I have nevered handled or even seen one in person but bought it off of all the recommendations so I will have the joyous experience of handling a knife entirely new to me. I own two spydercos (delica, tenacious) and have been very happy with them. Anyways, let me know what your first impressions were when you got your para 2

my PM2 was my third knife ever, after buying a Kershaw Blackout and Skyline. my first thought was, this G10 is amazing ... and now after owning a dozen more knives, I have to say the G10 texture on the PM2 is still the best. for some reason it's slightly different than the G10 on the Manix 2 and the Military models, not sure why Spyderco doesn't use the exact machining formula on all the rest (maybe they do and it's all in my head)

My first thought was , I guess it isn't all internet hype.

In my opinion the PM2 is one of the top knife choices, if not the best choice, in its price range.

I waited until my local dealer had one in stock (I had other models I was after at the same time so I was just buying what I wanted that was available), and I just happened to be there on the day he got 2 in (The only 2 he managed to get that year). One had sold already and the other was the satin/digicam that I bought. I knew what it was and its reputation, and as soon as I held it in my hand I knew it would be leaving the store with me. I later bought the CTS-204P KnifeWorks exclusive variation (From their second batch), and it's definitely my most carried and favourite knife.

I owned several more expensive and nicer knives when I finally bought my para 2, I figured "well, I should see what all the hype is about". Honestly wasn't overly hyped or anything, but man it kicked $300+ knives out of my pocket for a few solid months. The first thing that surprised me was the feel of the G10, it felt nothing like G10 I was used to . It was grippy but not too grippy where it destroys your pocket. I was also impressed at how smooth it is due to the pivot bushing, I basically couldn't stop flicking it for a longggg time.

I did the same thing. Just got mine a few days ago though. I have Sebenza's, Hinderers, Strider's, etc and finally decided to jump on a PM2 when I saw a good deal on the Exchange.

I'm obsessed with it to say the least. Just fits perfect in my hand and the grind makes it slice through stuff like butter. I will most likely pick up another just to have a back up.

You won't be disappointed!

I came across a you tube video on accident (after searching gun videos) with a guy talking about his matching pair spydercos delica endura pm2 millitary and 2 others, I instantly fell in love with the pm2 but when I found out how much it was I bought a sb delica instead, after a few months of saving I bought a brand new black g-10 dlc pm2 and when I got it it looked amazing in person and the sound of the lock is like the sound of a locking door. And feels like it was meant for my hand. I've edc'd this for the last year and a half and would feel naked without it...

I was gifted a PM2 by a great member here and it has not left my pocket since. It represents the perfect EDC for me and I too wondered why I never looked at this knife sooner

I own 3, each of a different steel and I can't add anything to the positive comments that have already been made.

I was used to carry a ZT0350 before getting my Para2.
When I have first got it in my hands I felt a mix enthusiasm
The all black finish was very nice, the compression lock was awesome, the open frame was perfect and the spyderhole was so great!
However the light weight and the blade/handle ratio was first a little bit disappointing ...

I get used to it, and the ergonomic of this knife really grown on me

at the moment it is the knife I carry most in urban location (I am stil with a ZT for heavier outdoor usage)

The para2 can take a lot and from the warehouse to the home it stays in my pocket for almost every tasks.

After two years with it I can confirm the DLC coating is very resistant (cardboard, plastics...).

It took my some time to get fine with the blade ratio but that is a great part of the successful ergonomic so... Let it be so...:)

My only disappointment at the moment is the steel.... It doesn't keep a razor edge for long
I have ZTs and BMs in S30V and my para2 has a very poor edge retention compared to the other knives I have.
I put it on the sharp maker every 2/3 weeks to keep it as sharp as I like it to be.
Very disjointed in this point, but I take this as an opportunity to train my sharpening skills
The knife is so great that it is worth it ;)

I actually sold my ZT 0350 blem to obtain the funds for this knife. The 0350 was just way too heavy for my carry preferences.

I am now used to 5+oz knives, still have a 2 or 3 around 4.8 and 5.3 ... For trail or camp I am fine with this kind of weight but just as for you I like the "featherweight-para2" for EDC

Add to the above list!! ROCKS!!!:encouragement: John

It's been my most frequently carried knife for the past 3 years or so. I've gone through a few phases where the handle seems a bit long relative to how much blade you get, but I always come back around. I've owned and sold the standard S30V version along with most of the Sprints (so wish I had held on to them!), finally settling on the green 204p model.

better knive for its price ! for me it's keep a better edge vs the benchmade a hold . possibily in heat threat process ?
