Para military first impressions

I sharpen it on my spyderco sharp maker, the same way I sharpen my other knives
The PM2 is the only one I have problems with

No problems sharpening even the zt0350 recurred blade, neither with BM943, BM940, ZT0801, ZT0350.... S30v, Elmax, m390, s35V ... All are fine
What really surprised me is that I have s30v in the 3 brands and only the spydie makes me some troubles

But I assume it shall be an issue in production.
I have got the knife after a shortage... My experience in the industry is that their are always more potential risks/issues on the first productions in such case.

I take it at it is, maybe if there is an all black sprint run I will take another one with a different steel.

By the way did anyone get some similar experience with spyderco?

Where did you purchase your PM2? Is there a chance at all it is a counterfeit? Yours is the first account of bad edge retention I've heard in Spyderco S30V. The only time I've seen similar complaints the knife ended up not being a genuine Spyderco but rather a fake.

I have got it at a good shop.
I have purchased many other blades at the same shop (ZT and BM) and had no problems.
But despite this "issue" I like the ergonomics so much that the PM2 is still one of my most carried knife.

Your really missing out on some excellent knives over a few tiny barely noticable holes.

I'm not refusing to buy models with multiposition clips. I have a Navaja and Chinese Lum. Vintage models like the Police and Harpy should have been left alone though.
Spydercos not making money off me. Only two of the last twelve knives I've bought were new. They're not making money off the used knives I'm buying.

Don't have a lot to add but I just bought my 2nd PM2 and love everything about it! I've got more expensive knives but my go to carry is always the paramilitary. I run it through the sharpmaker and have literally shaved with it afterwards! I already know I'm going to buy more...

This is how I am starting to feel :)

My PM2 never leaves my side unless I go on an airplane where it finds it's place in my checked baggage. Of course this will all change when I get my large Sebenza 21, but that won't be for a while. I love my PM2 and highly recommend it to anyone for most tasks. It's amazing how light but sturdy it is. I have zero blade play and perfect centering. The only blemish on my knife is a small ding on the butt of the G10 from a camping trip. It really fits well in the hand too.

I just ordered my first para 2. I am waiting patiently(well trying to at least) for it to arrive. While I am waiting, I would love to hear from some people about their first time handling a para military 2. What were your initial reactions? I have nevered handled or even seen one in person but bought it off of all the recommendations so I will have the joyous experience of handling a knife entirely new to me. I own two spydercos (delica, tenacious) and have been very happy with them. Anyways, let me know what your first impressions were when you got your para 2
For context, I had owned quite a few kershaws, 4 benchmade, and the delica and endura from spyderco before I bought a PM2. I'd wanted one for a while, and had heard all kinds of PM2 fan boy talk. Needless to say, my expectations were enormous.

First time handling the knife I was somewhat conflicted. I loved the compression lock, fit and finish was nearly flawless, blade deployment and lockup felt tighter than any knife I had ever used, and I liked the jimping and finger choil. On the other hand, the grind on the blade wasn't completely semetrical (although I've seen worse on benchmade knives), it wasn't super sharp out of the box, and I thought the G10 was a little too abrasive and not very comfortable in the hand. It tends to tear up the pockets on my jeans more than my other knives. I'd probably never carry it in khakis or slacks because of this.

Honestly, it's a wonderful knife (I've been carrying it all week). I put it on the sharpmaker and got it stupid sharp. My initial conflict was mostly a product of me buying way too much in to the "hype". It's a fantastic knife, and it's worth every penny and more. Just don't get unrealistic expectations from people who rave about it on the Internet.

I've got 3. 2 of them in s30v and one in Elmax. The Elmax PM2 rarely leaves my pocket and is used on a daily basis at work. I truly feel it's the perfect EDC folder.

So its be over a week with my para 2 and still loving it. My only gripe so far is the clip in tip up position. I like my knives to disappear and the factory clip does not do that. However, I ordered one of Casey's ti deep carry clips and hopefully it will arrive soon. This should fix this small personal preference gripe.

Good to hear!

Regarding the clip, I personally don't mind since it gives me a little something extra to grab on to from my pocket. I'll get a deep carry clip if I really need it to sink in. But it sounds like you've got that covered just fine.

Yes. If you ever need a deep carry clip. Casey Lynch (theoriginalspaceman on BF) is the way to go. Great costumer service and great product

Just though I would post a pic of my para 2. It has one of casey lynch's titanium pocket clips that is anodized brown. In the pic is also my spyderco delica 4.IMG_1197.jpgIMG_1196.jpg
