i bought a para2 off the forums last monday. it was described as carried but lnib, cut 1 piece of fruit, no sticky lock issues. when i got the knife friday evening i was very disappointed. blade was completely dull, not centered, and there was rust on it. the lock is very sticky. there is also rust all around the stop bar, and there are many carry marks all over the knife. i immediately emailed the seller, around 6pm, and saturday morning i sent him a private message. it's now noon sunday and since he hasn't replied i feel i have to post this. i've also made a video that i'll try to post.

Definately would like to know who this is as I like to buy off the sales forum. This seller sounds like one to avoid.

user name is muchblade. i'm waiting on youtube to post my video and when it's ready i'll put it up here.

I was going to suggest maybe giving it a couple of more days, because not everyone checks their email or BF every 30 seconds like I do. :) And then if you don't get any love, let us know who you were dealing with. Thats the whole point of this forum - to find out who is good, and who is ugly. But we've also seen many times where a buyer thinks the seller is avoiding him, only to find out that the seller was just away from his computer for a couple of days or whatever. Either way, good luck.

Its also a dangerous game to buy from someone with few posts and almost no feedback. Just something to consider going forward.

Wow, well there are a few things wrong with this.

The first being the item if indeed was not as described. A word of advice is never buy aning sight unseen. I don't buy anything off the exchange unless I see pictures of the actual item. The rules do not mandate thqt a seller must post pictures, but it is a good idea to stay away from folks that cannot be bothered to post a picture of wheir item. Just my .02 on that.

The second is, you sent an email and a PM. Now you are throwing the guy under the bus and not allowing him to even make an effort to make things right? That is poor form in my opinion. It's odd that people don't realize that others might have family, or things that take them away from a computer for a while. Some people have to work weekends or have other responsibilities.

I'm seeing that you are not a very patient type of fellow, based on solely on your initial post. You don't have details to really bolster your assumptions, yet here you are. Others might not be willing to transact with you in the future as well. Be patient, be understanding, if all else fails you can file a paypal claim, provided you didn't gift the money.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...derco-Worker-for-sale?highlight=para+for+sale Is it this knife?? From the pics I see some discoloring in the blade, and it looks to be pretty well used, give the seller some time though, and like Rev said, people have families and different work schedules, and I hope you didn't use the gift option. Not saying anyone wronged you on purpose but with a jon date of 2009 with only 50 posts and 1 feedback score, I myself would have passed up on that deal as a brand new para can be had for 8 bucks more.

hmmm... maybe i should have waited longer to post, but i don't know too many people who don't check their email at least daily. but the real problem is that the seller sent me a knife that was not as described. so basically he lied when he described it and took my money. if it was something minor i would have overlooked it and said "hey, the guy said he carried it, so it is what it is". but with so many problems and it being described as "lnib" i thought it was important to the other forum members to know that they might want to avoid the seller.

i'm wondering why you found it necessary to put the blame on me, revdevil? i didn't misrepresent to the seller when i sent him his money, but i'm the bad guy here???

To some people a scratch is no big deal to others its a deal breaker, maybe the seller used the knife once to cut fruit like he said then carried it and stuck it in a drawer, then he needs some cash so hes like hmmm i got that para 2 in the drawer i could sell so he posts it he opens it up for pics and closes it, maybe he didnt inspect the knife perfectly and he just missed the rust, also with his low post count and feedback score he maybe a noob, i know a lot of folks who carry knives that have bladeplay and off centered blades, and they never notice it because they don't fondle their knives just put them in a pocket and go.

RevDevil isn't making you the bad guy, per se. He merely mentioned that you didn't give the seller fair time to respond to your questions/emails/pm before you saw fit to through him out on front street. Patience goes a long way on this forum...trust me. I'm as impatient as the next guy, but I try to allow ample time for a response before throwing someone under the bus. As others have stated...not everyone lives on BF or in their email inbox.

user name is muchblade.
This is where you went sideways...

Just wanted to add a little something here, the member in question hasn't been online since last Thursday afternoon.

Thank you those who have been supportive here. Yes, I have not been on my computer for several days. Since notsobrite has made this issue public, I'll respond in public instead of by email as I was going to do until I saw this.

Notsobrite, I'm sorry you're disappointed with the knife. For the record, the knife has only cut one piece of fruit and then never used again. As for the blade, in my opinion and others who have handled many knives, it was very sharp. As for the compression lock, again, in my and others who have handled this type of lock, it was smooth. The centering of the blade seemed fine, especially for a production knife. This issue has been discussed on the forum. There may have been some lint on the knife as it has been sitting either in the original box or a Sack-up for months. As for rust, I'm not sure, but l didn't notice. In any case, you're disappointed. So, if you want to keep the knife, I'll refund you $25.00 making your cost for the knife (including shipping) $65.00. Or, you can return the knife to me in it's original condition. If the knife has been used, I will not be able to give you a full refund. If you chose to return the knife, please do so in the next day or two as I will be heading overseas and want to take care of this before I leave.

I will be leaving the computer now, but will try to get back on later today or tomorrow to view your reply.

Actually, let me go one better. You tell me Notsobrite, how much money you'd like back to keep the knife. If I'm satisfied, I'll refund you that amount. If not, just send the knife back. Hopefully, you haven't used or abused it.

I'm not placing the blame on you. However, you just got the knife and determined that it was not as described and did not allow what most would consider a fair amount of time for the seller to respond. That much is clear to anyone reading the thread. That kind of impatience tends to turn off a lot of people, and only ends up doing you harm in the end. How do I know? Read some of the threads posted in this subforum long enough and you wind up seeing a bit of everything. In the sellers case, he might have a job working weekends where he is not allowed to use a cell phone or computer, that too happens from time to time. He might be somewhere in the middle of no where and no cell coverage. It may sound like an excuse,. but it does happen. Not everyone lives on their phone or PC.

I can appreciate your intention to give folks a "head's up", but it always helps credibility if you have some responses and some time before blasting someone. In this case, you didn't even wait for the guy to say anything in his own defense, you just straight up toss him under the bus. Again, this kind of action is viewed as out of proportion by many, given the time and events that have occurred. Once again, making you look just as bad if not worse than him. People here and in similar forums tend not to want to deal with folks that are this way, and they end up refusing to do business for this reason. Just my take on it, nothing more. I do hope you can both work out an amicable solution that is beneficial to both of you. Good Luck.

Thanks, 1Shot.

i had a problem getting the video to load but it's up now. muchblade, thanks for the offer to make things right. i apologize if i was too quick on the trigger. maybe if you view the video you'll understand why i was unhappy. i've put knives away for a few months and forgotten that i'd used them or the condition they were in, i'm assuming this is what happened here. again, i apologize for not giving you more time to respond.

That knife has carry marks because as the seller said Its been carried. The blade (edge) looks sharp and indeed looks like it has seen little action. As for the lint and rust, 60 seconds of clean up and it's gone. As for the blade centering, looks like a production knife to me.
Maybe this should have been handled behind the scenes, sounds like you are not happy BUT the seller appears ready to make you "whole" again by accepting the knife for a refund or sending you some cash.
My opinion is my opinion and my opinion is that you just might have jumped the gun here and a wee bit more time would have resulted in a non GB&U thread.

It does not matter if the knife has been carried - when described as "Like new in box" that is exactly what I would expect from the PM2 in question. It was clearly not as described.

The seller may need to evaluate "Like new in box" and not waste his and potential buyers time, refund or not the damage from a misleading sale is still there.

I've had the exact same thing - Like new in box. What I received was clearly very used, with plenty of wear, scratches, dents and fading - Not new, like new, near new, not even close to new and describing items as such is dishonest.

It is hard to tell in the video, because of the lighting, but it looks to me like there is more wear on the scales, than one would get carrying it a little.

That alone would make the knife no where near N.I.B, even if it has only been used to cut one piece of fruit. I think i wold have been disappointed too, but certainly wouldn't have made a video and posted it on YouTube, and started a thread in GB&U so quickly.
Just my opiniion, but when you post a video on YouTube and mention you bought the knife on BF's, it probably doesn't make BF's look good to people that have not been on here before, or just joined.

To the sellers credit, he seems to be willing to do whatever you want, to make you happy.
