After posting this pic:

I had a request to show how I braided the 550 cord for the shoulder strap. I really don't think of it as braiding, I was taught this "braid" for storing extension cords so they won't tangle and are easy to undo, it will unravel from one end and you can just use the length that you need. It is a great way to store rope or cord, it is hard to get a tangle even if after braiding you just stuff it in your pack. Anyway here are some pics and I will try to explain, if yall were standing here I could show you in 30 seconds. :(

Hopefully my pics are pretty much self explanatory, you basically make a simple slip knot and then pull the loop through making another loop over and over and finish it off with a simple overhand knot. You can change the size of the braid by how big you make the loops which will also change the final length.

Man trying to explain things with my rudimentary writing skills is tough, :( if anyone has any questions I will try to answer. Chris

Oh Yeah, I forgot, I like to braid cord like this, coil it and then hang it on my pack with a couple of carabiners, always find a million uses for it in the field. Chris

Hmmm, looks good but I lose it after picture 2.

You just pull a loop though making another loop....arrrgh somebody help me out here, the pictures make it look so much harder than it is. I am looking online for a tutorial but I don't know what it is called to search for it.:mad:

I store most of my paracord that same way.

Just keep making slip knots. When the desired length is reached, run the strand through the last loop and pull a little to lock it off.

Anyway, my description is clear to myself:cool:

Carabiners? CARABINERS! What a POSEUR! :D

Thanks for posting this, I will have to get some stuff together and really make myself more of a POSEUR than I already is!

Thanks!

Chris,

Thanks very much for your post!

Paracord is one of those things that seems to jump into a tangle the second you look away. I usually coil it up and wrap it, but when I go to use it, it usually tangles. The Chain Sinnet is a great way to store cord!

Thanks again,

Thanks for posting this! I've recently gotten interested in knots and this one is invaluable. Thanks!
