After posting this pic:
I had a request to show how I braided the 550 cord for the shoulder strap. I really don't think of it as braiding, I was taught this "braid" for storing extension cords so they won't tangle and are easy to undo, it will unravel from one end and you can just use the length that you need. It is a great way to store rope or cord, it is hard to get a tangle even if after braiding you just stuff it in your pack. Anyway here are some pics and I will try to explain, if yall were standing here I could show you in 30 seconds.
Hopefully my pics are pretty much self explanatory, you basically make a simple slip knot and then pull the loop through making another loop over and over and finish it off with a simple overhand knot. You can change the size of the braid by how big you make the loops which will also change the final length.
