I did a recent blog post on another paracord boonie hat band, worked around the boonie hat's branch loops. I added a YouTube video for making one with 30 feet of paracord.

That's pretty awesome Pritch! I was just thinking of making a paracord shoulderstrap for my hawk thinking that if I ever needed the cordage I could just use a single strand for the hawk afterward. Thanks for this as now I'll know I'll need at least 100 feet of cordage to do it.

Brian, thanks. BTW, the double cobra is way to thick and heavy for a useful hatband, at least for me. I'll try it again after I get back from vacation and see if I can come up with a keeper. I may incorporate a section of shock cord as well. It will provide some tension to keep the band on the hat, and there are always things you can use it for.

Wish I had seen this back when the Tilley picture was still in it. Or maybe I just can't see it from here at the office. I'd love to do something like this with my Tilley.

What you really need is a paracord Hat....not just a band....

The previous paracord hatband, that I posted, started off as a long two bight turks head knot, but I only did that knot halfway, before coiling the rest of the cord around the hat, underneath the crossings.
This one is a two bight turks head knot, in an open pattern with more crossings showing, done with a 30 foot long length of paracord, doubled up in a single pass, worked around the hat's branch loops. There was just enough cord to work under the knots and around the hat one time. Any more than 30 feet may get a bit bulky, but there was still room for more. YMMV
