Warning!!

I was just informed by Paragon that they do not have any spare parts available for their popular X-9 model. They still have an inventory of new X-9 knives, but if you need a spare part they simply suggest that you buy a new one at $200 Plus. It only took three long distance calls over three weeks to get this much out of them. On my first two calls they simply said that the person responsible for customer service was currently unavailable and would return my call. Fat chance of that happening.

I'll will never buy anything from these guys again. Fortunately, this is the poorest excuse for customer service that I have ever had from any knife company. There are alot of good people producing knives out there, and I intend to patronize them and avoid loosers like Paragon.

BTW: this model consists of a number of components. I simply needed to BUY a replacement for a damaged plastic assembly that is used as a threaded nut to attach the bow assemby to the knife. No warranty, assembly, or dis-assembly involved.

Oh well, the thing was headed for my display case as a knife curio anyway - So it will be fully functional in its current state.

BTW, Paragon's "cutomer service" can be reached at 828-696-0777.

Maybe if you asked again they'd send you an autographed picture of "Miss Paragon" by way of consolation.

We have to hand it to them for adding a little bit of spice to those knife mags.

Gonna stick this in GB+U. Sorry you are having these problems. You might want to know that Paragon is private labeling the 2 new Al Mar autos.

N2S -- that is a real pisser! I've not paid much attention to their ads -- tho something about a girl rings a bell.

I can't believe how stupid some business people are. If customer service is a one-person responsibility at the company, then I think it is a fair bet that quality ain't job 1. I appreciate the heads up.

In fact, something this egregious makes me think I'll try to yank their chain or something. Gotta look for a website.

Bugs,

This is the best I have been able to find.

I don't think these guys have an Email address - much less an actual web site. There is alot of information on the knives, but, these are retail sites and not the original manufacturer/distributor.

Perhaps I sould have read their warranty before I purchased the knife. It reads in part:

"The obligations of Paragon Cutlery Company under this warranty shall be limited to the repair or exchange of any part or parts which may prove defective under normal use and service within ninety (90) days from the date of purchase by the original purchaser."

BTW: The piece I damaged is called the "Guard Assembly". The plastic threading is damaged - probably not an uncommon problem since the piece threads into a steel boslter.

At least they are consistent in their quality.

Well crumbs, this puts a major dent in my plans.
I have a Paragon Mini-Seal (some folks call 'em an ATKO-3 but the blade is different fromt he ATKO-3 I have seen) and one day when I took it apart the little spring that's under the firing button flew out and got lost. and then when I had found a spring to replace that oen with the hex head pivot screw stripped out as I was trying to un-screw it.
I was going to contact them about it.
I may go ahead and do that, just to see, but I have my doubts now.
Which sucks cause I really miss having my little knife with me all the time.
