Paramilitary 2 Clarification Questions (AKA, Seal the Deal for me)

My para-military 2 fails shut and opens like butter and the lockup is rock solid and the centering is good. I played with the pivot until there was no blade. Then as I flipped it open and close it became more and more smooth. You can always add some lubricate to help the pivot. The PM2 is my most carried knife and you will love it.

My PM2 was pretty stiff when I first got it. I did not/will not adjust the pivot at all. I won't ever touch it unless its to tighten it. I'll never loosen it purposely. Think about this: If Spyderco wanted the blade to flick out like that with hardly any detent or stiffness in the pivot, they would sell it with a loose pivot.

I can flick mine open like that, but never more than 2 times in quick succession. My pivot is tight, which I really like about my PM2. I recommend you abandon this whole, "I want to flick it open like the cool guys do" adjustment/mod (JMO here). You're likely to screw up the adjustment in the pivot. Some here can attest to how difficult it is to get it back to just the right tightness. Actually, I take that back. Do what you want dude. Good luck

So...hm. Where do I start?

I mean, wow. Really just wow. When I joined this forum I felt like all I ever heard about was the PM2 and I just did NOT get it.

Un-boxed mine today and I am absolutely blown away.

In terms of my concerns around bladeplay...I never really understood what it meant to have zero play until now.

Thank you all very much for your insights and advice. I couldn't be happier with this knife.

Though, of course, the problem is that now I want another spyderco! Headed out soon to sell a zero tolerance off of craigslist and with the money I plan to order something else! What's a good next spyderco? Native 5? Manix 2?

Thanks again everyone!!!!

Congrats on a good decision!!
I got the digi satin and loved it so much I also grabbed a digi black blade!
If you love it now, wait till you pocket it and get used to it....it will definitely grow on you!!
Next???? Manix 2!!
Which one did you get??

Carrying the digi satin as we speak!!
There are o LOT of PM2 brothers here!!
Bet you can't go 3 minutes without flicking or just holding at looking at it!!
Enjoy it!!

Love my PM2...!

Only thing I changed was the clip to a deep carry.

Ok here's a big question: a second all black PM2, or a manix 2!?

Any multiple PM2 owners who would recommend another one before I order something different?

Now I understand sprint runs. When it's an alternative handle and/or blade materials, but It always confused me why people get multiple versions of the same knife. There are so many different choices to try from Spyderco Starting with the Manix2. Also there is the Southard, Stretch, K2, Slysz Bowie, Techno, Native, Dragonfly2, Rubicon, Domino, Chubby.... etc. Also, if you're willing to wait a bit, The Positron looks great, and the Nirvana is gonna be absolutely SICK! (expensive though)

So with so many great choices, why get a duplicate?

I didn't 'get it', in regards to Spyderco, for many years. Finally, after everyone going on so much about the pm2, I bought one.
That was about a year ago. I quickly understood all the raving. I had a sticky lock on mine. I oiled it and used graphite (pencil) on the lock face, flicked it a lot, and the stickiness went away. It's soo slicey & has a great tip. The action, lock, ergos.. I can't complain. All great.
I have to warn you though... Since that first pm2, I have added a Native 5 G10, Sage 2, & Techno. I'm currently eyeing the Manix 2 G10...
It's a sickness!

I'm sure there are plenty of people that would say to get another PM2; I'm going to be the guy that tells you to get a Manix2. I've never tried the LW models, not sure if I'll bother...but, before I put the aluminum scales on my PM2, I preferred the Manix2 by a considerable margin.

Manix 2.

There are so many other great models, why limit youself with duplicates. Delica, Native, Endura, Manix 2, Gayle Bradley, Stretch, Military, ... any one capable of kicking the PM2 out of your pocket. ;)

BTW, I like my Manix2 LW S110V better than my blacked-out PM2.

Thanks for the advice all! Just to clarify, I meant a second PM2, but in all black because my current one is digicamo and satin. I didn't mean an exact duplicate!

Also, I like the PM2 SO much it's hard to imagine buying a different knife and liking it as much...but I guess I have to take the plunge!
