Paramilitary 2 Worth the Hype?

I own a few. Never carry them though. I really hate the lock. Why the heck did they put a liner lock where you cant easily access it?! Why couldnt they just do a normal liner lock like the Millie?! The para must have a polish designer! Glad I saw this thread. There will be a few para's on the exchange soon! Nice ones too! Love my Spydies but much prefer my Gayle or one of my Sage's!

I ordered a Para Military 2 Black Blade, black scews - Digicam Handle $109.00 online, after it arrives I'm sending it off to Cuscadi
and have these scales put on:

'Animal' - Bocote wood

Hype is not the correct word to describe the general enthusiasm for the Para 2. This knife has earned it's praise in the test lab of real life. It isn't hype if it's true.

I've had about ten or more in the last 8 months. My favorite knife, and you can get a nice one for a bit over $100.

Besides a couple of SAKs, I'm down to 2 folders. My para 2 and Ritter Grip. At first the para totally got more pocket time, but I did think the Ritter was a better woods/hiking folder for me. Then I got cuscadi scales for the Ritter and my para is getting a lot less carry time- course the Ritter is now a $200 knife...

Great all around folder imo though...a homerun for spyderco and knife addicts.

The lock looks strange to me, and as I have never liked liner locks, is a real turn off. I like Spyderco's lockbacks much more. It does look like a nice slicer, but I would sooner get a flat ground Endura with a ZDP-189 blade.

The compression lock might look strange, but I assure you that it is one of the strongest locks out there. It's not a liner lock in the traditional sense, what it is is excellent mechanical engineering.

Thats a big hell yes. Para 2 is best combination of form and function for me. Awesome ergos, love the blade shape.. the ffg blade cuts great, all rolled into a handsome design. They fixed all the issues I had with the first Paramilitary. I own CRKs and Striders but grab my Para (or Millie) first everyday.

I'm not a big fan of the para 2.

I've had two that I sold off.

I can live with the lock, but the whole package seems flimsy to me.

Not at all a hard use knife.

Newest bit of PM2 tomfoolery

My thoughts on the Para 2...

I was skeptical at first, now I own two of them. Lightweight, great price point, made in USA, great blade steel, great lock system, overall I can't really find much personally that I don't like about this knife. YMMV

I have owned a few of them and I will keep my Camo/Black blade s30v. Although I am curious about an M390 sprint run, cash is low right now but between that and my S30v Ritter Griptilian, I feel like a am king of the knife world. They are agressive cutters that are visually appealing to me. They also hold a great edge for a good while and even I can get them hair popping sharp. Whats not to like? I have owned MANY knives and these two are keepers. I also keep an ENLAN EL 2b in my glove box because it is also a great design. Too bad the steel is not S30v.

Hate the design of the PM2, but there's no doubt the quality is above its price.

Exactly. I was on the fence as well, but kept hearing how great it was. Now that I have one I can see what the hype was about.

I think its one of the best designs out there. The handle is the most comfortable I've felt on a folder, the lock is great, and the flat gound blade with alot of distal taper makes it a flat out cutting machine.
