Paramilitary 3

I like the name AND the concept. 3" version of the PM2 would be a great addition to the edc lineup. Are we picking configuration :) I'll take one in peel-ply CF (nice and light) and S90V or M4. Give me a mili in 4V to go with it :)

Hi RamZar,

We still plan a Compression lock sage.

Hey BMWBoris,

We have been calling it the Para 3 in-house, for the reasons you mention ed, but decided that it might create confusion since we'll still be making the Para 2.

This is both great news. A Compression Lock Sage will be awesome. Also, I like it is not called the "Paramilitary 3" as that would indicate that the PM2 is being discontinued and replaced (like how the PM2 directly replaced the PM1). The Minuteman is an AWESOME name

Nope.. Smaller para would make more marketing sense and add more to the target market.. The pm2 is large enough and only to small amount of people would want to see it larger. Most states like to see knives under 3.5-3in so that would murder sales to civilians edc.. I sold mine due to the size and I have large hands. I will be revisiting the minute man when it drops as 3in blade is the sweet spot for most application to me. See how that works, they are pulling me back, and would assume it would to most para owners that's not looking to carry a sword.
Not too keen on the name "Minute man," but love the concept of smaller pm2 with same ergos. Para Bootcamp.. ?

yeah, I have XL hands and the PM2 is very comfortable in my hands. in fact, even the Delica is very comfortable in my hands. maybe if you're usually wearing thick gloves, the PM2 could be a little on the small side but I think the market analysis is out there that most folks these days buy knives to EDC, and optimal EDC size is usually closer to 3" than 4" for the vast majority of people.

I'm not saying a Military 2 w/ compression lock as ALLHSS is suggesting wouldn't be awesome - it would indeed be awesome and I would buy one. but the Minuteman being what it is makes perfect sense for the realities of today's market. at the end of the day, Spyderco is still a business and they have to make intelligent business decisions. perhaps if the Minuteman makes a ton of dough Sal & co. will have the time and money to splurge on a compression lock full size Military.

Blue G10 & S110V would be a nice option too!
Yep, would be nice as a standard model with the sprint run colored blue, not the blurple. Already got a digicam/satin PM2 and digicam/DLC Military (I try to avoid black G10 for variety) but don't think I'll want a black or digicam Minuteman so I might be waiting from the start for a sprint run. We'll see what the initial options are...

I seem to be in the minority on this, but my preference for a Paramilitary 3 would be to keep the same blade size, shrink the lanyard hole and reduce the grips to the size and general proportions of the Stretch. Keep everything else the same.

Blue G10 m390 would be perfect! I dont think they could make those fast enough based on how the PM2 in that config went. I am still wanting PM2 in the flavor by the way. Mr. Glesser please make this for the minuteman.

I would somewhat agree with you on this but I dont think physics would allow it.

I don't care about steel or color or handle material, but please please deep carry clip? This thing is begging to be an edc that you can take to the office or the field, and in that size class, I think a discreet clip option would be awesome. It would be like having, to quote Jeremy Clarkson, a tiny pet mouse you can train to kill burglars.

Being a big fan of knives with blades of 3" or less I'm happy to hear that a smaller version of the PM2 is in the works. I handled a PM2 at a show this weekend and, while I really like the knife, it's just too big for me to use for EDC. Looking forward to this one!! :-)

Love my pm2 but I can't use it at work because of the size. The thought of a smaller version has me shaking in my boots. I can't wait is a understatement.

Oh hell ya I'd buy one of these for sure. I want...no...I NEED one in stone washed or black DLC coated M390 with British Racing Green G10 scales. Just sayin'

Would it be too forward to suggest to Sal and Eric that they should send out some protos to a few lucky forumites? You know, to get user feedback before launch?
I'll volunteer my services for free. [emoji2]

Helpful sort that I am, I too would be prepared to shoulder that burden :D

What are the possibilities of making a LH variation of this knife? Although the pm2 is usable left handed, I do wish it was as smooth to use as if I were a righty.

I hope the thumbhole is the same size as the PM2! I used to carry a BM Mini Grip but it was just too small and if I had to use gloves it would be too difficult to handle

Add me to the virtual waiting list for this knife. I think 3" is the sweet spot for and EDC folder for me.

Can we expect it to be available in 2016 or is it further out than this year?
