Paramilitary 3

I agree with steve. A military 2 before a para 3! If they did what kinda did what they did whith the para 2 with a mili, like the end of the blade when u start to open the mili. It could be a tad shorter and a tad more jimping. It's fine the way it is but that would make it slightly better.

I'd like to see a paramilitary with the little half moon cutout right behind the blade that makes sharpening the root of the blade so easy... Call me crazy but I thought THAT was a choil.....

Love the choil, love both steel liners (as someone mentioned earlier, necessary for the 4-position clip... and the Para2 is already an amazing 3.75oz... perfect weight:size ratio... very light in hand and pocket... a lighter knife does not make a better knife, too light for its size and they start to feel flimsy and cheap... Para2 knocks it out of the park in this regard!).

As for the handle... no handle will fit everyone perfectly because there are always those with really big hands or those with really small hands... but the vast majority of people have hands that fall within the parameters that the Para2's handle is designed for and thus it fits the vast majority of people's hands perfectly (myself included...feels like it was custom made for my hand... love it!!!)... hence the reason it has received (and continues to receive) rave review for its ergos. If Sal and Company changed it to meet he needs of either side of the bell curve they'd be fools. If people are such ham-handed neanderthals that the Para2's handle is too small for them, buy a Military... that's the knife for you, and leave us normal-handed people's knife alone! ;) (j/k)

Handle:blade ratio... at .71 I understand people's grumblings. But there are factors that drive this that need to be taken into account. The Para2 is a scaled down version of the Military, as such it (like the Mili) is designed to be used with gloves if necessary. Thus the handle is a bit bigger (although w/o gloves the ergos are so dang good that I really wouldn't want the handle any smaller). As for the blade length... 3.44" I believe was purposely chosen/designed into the knife so that its blade length stays under the 3.5" limit that many state and local laws have on the books. To go over this length would affect people in these areas ability to carry the Para2 legally. All this said, the handle:blade ratio is set about perfectly for the purpose and function of the knife. A shorter handle might look a bit better, but ergos pay the price (especially with gloves on). A longer blade might look a bit nicer, but blade length restrictions would then limit the knife's effective market and user-ability. So, it would seem that the handle:blade ratio of the Para2 was actually very carefully chosen to fulfill its role perfectly.

Pocket clip is the one place I can concede to wanting a change. I would MUCH prefer Spyerco's deep carry wire clip. But... that said, again, the knife was built to be used in a professional setting if necessary (ie, military, police, etc)... at least that was its origin (I am sure the vast majority of users are not military or police) and as such the standard hourglass clip is probably a stouter clip and more secure (and as we all know Sal is a "function over form" kind of guy). That said, I modded most of my Para2's with an STR Lowrider clip... works and looks great!!!

For those who think the blade shape is ugly or the knife in general is unattractive... you are from a different planet than me! :D How can you say this just is not a dead sexy knife!?!?! :D

Yeah, Para3 is pretty far down on the list of priorities IMO.

The Military is good as it is, but I want quad-clip, bigger lanyard hole and perhaps thicker hardware + open construction like on the Para2. I'm quite comfortable with Spyderco's Walker liner lock, but if they decide to try out the stop lock on the Military2 as advertized, I don't mind that neither.

I don't want to hear anything about a Paramilitary 3 a month after I bought my 2 :)

I think the para 2 should be left alone. The choil is perfect for me. Its not like it has to be used. Theres plenty of edge on it to do anything. My only complaint is that the cut out for the lock kind of hurts my hand after a lot of hard use, but its no big deal.
The only thing keeping me from buying a military is the clip. If it had a 4-way clip, my para would rarely be used again. I love big knives, but I love the para. The military is the best of both worlds.

one quick question have you ever felt or handled a para 2? the ergos are perfect, blade steel comes in varieties with the sprints, and the pocket clip works great like all the other spyderco knives with that clip.

not trying to come off rude but the knife is the best spyderco knife in production Imo and stands the test of time. I edc one and have never had any issues.

I agree with Oofa, its ok. It has too much hype. Don't get me wrong it is a great knife and I always have one in my pocket, but I believe it is still over hyped. It isn't the most comfortable knife I own either or the best slicer. Also the sprints are hard to come by and are overpriced in my opinion. I among my non knife friends all agree that the tenacious is more comfortable. I then ask which one they would have and they all have said the tenacious not knowing anything about the two other than looks and comfort. I still don't think the PM2 is improvable, it is the best it will ever be in my opinion. All Sal could really do to improve it is in the materials used and all that will do is drive the price up. I think they should make a cheaper version of it, with a lesser steel maybe.

A mini version would be cool to see but I think an XL would be unnecessary. A mini with handle options, frn or g10 in a variety of colors with vg-10 steel or 8cr13mov for a real cheap version maybe.

I want to see a mini version of paramilitary! Para 1 was nice for me except for the gliches many didn't like.. Many of those issues have been addressed in version 2, but somehow I'm not as attracted to it as I did to version 1.
Para2 is comfy I agree but it doesn't have the integrated feel I had for military and Para1...
When they said para2 was coming I hoped it to be smaller than para1...
I believe there are many who are satisfied with para2, but still many of us out there like me want a smaller version of it.
Mini para or mini military would be the rightful name if it ever comes out. Please bring back the hump design of the mili's and para1's handle butt end. Para 2 almost removed it and it feel less secure at least in my hand...

Hope I could see a Mini Paramilitary someday...That would be my grail knife... as a matter of fact, the Military model was the very knife that brouhgt me into this knife addiction..

Personally I want a version of the PM2 with a deep carry wire pocketclip like the one on my Techno. A better steel like Elmax would also be nice, but s30v is fine really.

I think it's hilarious that there are so many (not only on this forum) calling for a Para 3 while saying they have no idea how anyone could improve on the Para 2. :adoration:

I think it's an over rated knife that is just ok. Kind of a shoulder shrug of a knife. I would change blade steel and shape, handle shape, pocket clip, maybe a mini or XL version.......... it would end up being a completely new style and not a Para anything.

I would love to know what knife/knives you carry?
Also I would like to know what knives you think are NOT overrated.

Come on... Answer my questions with your 43 post..

Duh! So he can carry two Para2s at the same time...one in his right pocket, one in his left! :D LOL!!!

Philippines = pretty humid I am guessing (& near lots of sea water). :)
