Hey everyone, im not sure... but this could be my 1st post on this forum... but anywho, I have been wanting to get a spyderco for some time now, and I chose the paramilitary II, which was very hard to get. It was always sold out at the store I buy from. I happened to get lucky a few days ago, and ordered one. Im wondering though, just how good is this knife, and what can I expect from it?

I got my first one a few days ago, and it is awesome. I am defiantly a Spyderco fan now. The fit and finish is great, its smooth, and just over all one of my new favorite knives. You will have to mess around with adjusting the pivot and the blade stop so it is smooth with no play. You will also need some blue locktite for that so if you don't have any, get some lol

It took me a bit o' time to warm up to the compression lock. It felt kind of backwards at first but I got used to it. Great knife!

I have got mine very recently and I have a very positive feeling about it.
The good grip, blade design allow many different grips, good for basic and heavy duty uses.
I think it will be my basic EDC, mainly because it is a simple no-nonsense knife.

For real heavy duty I still prefer my ZT0350 but for EDC I think the PM2 is less aggressive and more versatile

I just received mine about a week ago. After everything I had heard about it I had high expectations. My regular EDC is a Sage 1 so I was curious whether it would live up to the hype enough to replace my beloved Sage.

I was impressed with it right out of the box. Fit and finish are very nice. Not quite as refined as the Sage, but not as beefy and tank-like as the Manix.

Ergonomics are very good. I'm a fan of G-10 so the grip and tactile feedback of the G-10 lived up to expectations. I have medium-size hands so it's a tad large but still a good fit and feels good in the hand. Gloves would not be a problem. For pocket carry it's just about perfect. Not too large or heavy for comfortable carry.

Being a liner lock guy the compression lock feels backwards to me. I can close it one-handed but not as easily as with a liner.

Performance is excellent for medium-duty use. The blade profile doesn't have much belly but it does well at slicing tasks. You can't help but like S30V goodness.

If I could change anything it would be to give it a liner lock and a wire clip that sits a tad lower in the pocket.

All-in-all I'm liking the PM2. I find myself pulling it out and playing with it throughout the day. Still, it has yet to replace the Sage as my regular EDC. Maybe that will eventually happen after I warm up to it a bit more.

Had mine for less then a month before it broke from opening it , somthing poped out and had to send it back , not very impressed with that , but it's a good knife people just hype it up way to much

More than likely it will be fine out of the box.
No need to invest in blue loctite.
Personally I prefer the Military and in general Spyderco has a ton of great knives in all sizes, styles, and price points.
If you don't like your PM2 you won't have any trouble trading or selling it.

I do actually need to get some locktite... how much play did it have straight out of the box?
Mine came out of the box tight with blade play  I instantly got my torx bits and locktite lol After some tinkering I got it rock solid and smooth  They are very finicky tho, so don't be discouraged if it isn't just right out of the box.

Just got mine today along with Sage 1 and love them both............Got mine from Kershawguy he my still have few if anyone is looking

My first spyderco I bought was a paramilitary 2, and I freaking love it! Definitely my favorite knife to carry now. Wicked sharp too.

My thoughts exactly. I also wonder if it would've been received the same way if Spyderco would've produced enough to stay in stock and not be so difficult to find from retailers.

I wouldn't call it all hype. It's good for a reason and people love it for a reason. You got a lemon, and you shouldn't let a lemon keep you from enjoying it. Give it another chance.

In so many high end knife collections found on youtube you are almost certain to find a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 in there for a reason. The same goes for mine. Its an absolutely outstanding knife and its ergonomics are some of the best you can ask for in a folder.

The pivot is not controlled by the tightness of the screw. Mine are tightened up all the way and it's like butter.

What exactly broke? You have two scales, two liners, two washers, and the blade. I gotta call you on this one.

The compression lock is much more than a liner lock in the back. You could say it is sort of a marriage between the liner lock and the tri-ad lock, in that you'd pretty much need to bust the back pin to break it.

I've had my Para2 with me for exactly one year now and an original Para for 2 years before that. The thing rocks. A grind that is neither delicately thin or excessively thick with just as much belly as you would need for any task there is, plus the overall feel, ease of deployment and closing it and of course the light weight make it pretty much everything you need in an edc knife. You'll love it from the moment you open the box until the day you die, and don't be surprised if it lasts that long.

Not only do you get an awesome knife when you buy it, you are also automatically inducted into a very special club of enthusiasts who have a fine eye for quality. Most of us who have now own custom and high end production knives started our craze with the Para2 and have yet to depart with it.
