Pass Around Salsa Idea

I wanted to see if this idea would fly, I think it would be fun. Anyway here's the idea, I take my green Spyderco Salsa, box it up and send it to the first of ten people or so.

When each person receives the knife they use it for a week or so for all their normal tasks. They give their opinion here on the board, and in an included notebook if they wish. The knife should be wiped off and if it's dull, given a sharpen as you normally would, that is try to pass it on in the condition you received it. Then they box it up for the next person with the included address tags and send it off.

The last person sends it back to me. Interested? If so email me your address so I can make the address tags. I'm NOT going to use your email for spam, and my virus protection is pretty up to date so I don't think I'll accidently send you a virus.

Remember you'll need to send it to someone so it's not free, it will cost you a few bucks to play. Oh and your should be of the appropriate age (18), and lets keep this to the US at the moment so shipping is minimal.

I like the idea.

Kinda cool, if you ask me.

Only flaw in it is being done by Snail mail.

It might get lost along the way.

Sign me up!:D

OK, you're in as #2 on the list.

Yep, it might get lost, or someone might keep it. Hopefully neither will happen. :-)

Is there a reason you would like to do this? I am just wondering what your after. It reminds me of that movie Pay it forward.

It will be good to see more people get on board with this. I think it is an awesome idea and can't wait to read the results when it's all over

My wife's hobby group does the same thing but with their hobby materials. In their case some people take things they can use and add things that others might be able to use and pass it on. People are pleased and surprised by what they get.

Similarly, I thought it would be a neat thing to try out a knife I was curious about. The best you can do in a store is hold it, but can't really use it.

So once I got the Salsa I thought, hmm, how many others might like to try it too? My guess is if people really like it they will probably buy one of their own.

Plus I'm fascinated by the different uses people would put it through and how it holds up. I suppose I could just send it to Cliff Stamp but I think this would be more fun.

So who's #3? :p

D7reamers,

email me with your snail address, your email is turned off in your profile.

Sound cool to me :)
What about it getting lost in the mail?
Should say it has to be sent to the next person with a confirmation number on the package so you know were and when it was sent.
Please add me to the list of people to try it out.

Thanks,

Great idea, I would like to participate. I've been thinking of getting a Salsa for a while now, this could be a perfect chance to "test drive" it to see is I like it.

Very generous of DaveH to volunteer his knife to be passed around like this.

Confirmation number is a great idea. I think it will work out fine, and if it gets lost it gets lost, no biggie.

We are up to 6 people, so a few more and I'll see if I can send it out Monday! I'm going to go hunt for a box now.

Remember no risk, just got to send it one when you're done.

Thanks,

Hi Dave. Interesting experiment. I'm also interested in the results. If you get the knife through to at least 10 people that post opinions, Spyderco will replace the knife for you with a new one.

Sal,

That is very generous, but certianly not required.

one2gofst - I got you, you're #8.

All we need is a few more. There's a couple of you that haven't sent me your snail mail address yet, send your bladeforum name too so I can make sure I didn't miss anyone.

Thanks!
