Passing of John White

So sad to hear this tragic news, just terrible to hear.
Prayers will be sent tonight for his family and many friends.
At a loss to say any more…sorry.

Doug

I am deeply saddened by the loss of one of the finest gentlemen I've had the honor of knowing. He will be missed. My heart felt condolences to Jill, family and his world of friends.

A master of the craft and a really good guy.

John White will be missed in many ways. Prayers for him and his family.

He was one of the best there will ever be. So eager to share, teach everything he knew. Truly a master.

Sad news. Mr. White was such an easy man to talk to. He was one of the "Good Guys" for sure.

He will be missed and his legacy will only stand as a benchmark for others to strive to reach.

it made me sad to find this out, makes me sad thinking about it.

I have known John since he won best new maker at Blade Show. He was a gentleman and a very talented knife maker. His family should know that he has left his mark on the world and he will be missed by many. His knives will be appreciated by many generations.
I will miss his energy at the shows.

This is really sad news. John was a special talent and a really nice man.

Lost my Dad to the same disease, also in about 5 week time frame, couple of years ago. Nothing can really prepare you for that.

Prayers sent to his family.

Shocked at this news. What a loss..... John was always willing to answer any questions and was such a talented maker. Condolences to Jill and family/friends
Cheers Bruce

John was one of the most kind people I have ever met. It was always great visiting with him. He dealt with the situation a lot better than I could have and he was in high spirits through it all. I was even more impressed with his work after seeing his shop. He didn't have a huge shop like some knife makers. It was small and to the point. Which made me respect him and his work even more.

This is of John right before he was diagnosed. He was favoring his leg at this time, but I was asked to post it since it is one of the last pictures of him:

A great man and artist. He will be missed dearly by everyone.

John was a true master and not only in knifemaking. Very sad news. Thank you for answering questions and for being my friend. Yep there is that smile Logan, thank you for the picture. I will ring the anvil for you John. Our deepest sympathies to Jill and his family and friends. Such a loss.

My jaw is still on the floor. I am just starting my knifemaking journey so I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. White but his masterful creations were and are a huge inspiration to me. I am extremely sorry for the loss of man so highly respected and loved as an artist and as a person. My prayers go out to his family and his many friends.

Deeply saddened by this terrible news. I'm still amazed sometimes that makers of Mr. White's caliber freely share their hard earned knowledge but very few could make me feel so at ease while doing so as he could. Rest in peace Mr. White, you will be missed.

…And then God took John by the hand and said "Come with me now, your work here is finished"

John was like a brother to me. I will miss him greatly. God bless you, Jill

with respect

I am stunned to the point of not knowing quite what to say.
I know I will certainly miss our phone calls. I enjoyed his opinions whenever I had something to share.
He always met me with a smile on his face - which I will miss.
A true inspiration on many levels to many of us.
My deepest heartfelt condolences to all of his loved ones.
I feel a bit empty right now.

Like Karl, I am stunned speechless. :( Seeing this thread I felt like I've been punched in the gut. I will miss you dearly my friend. I will keep Jill and your family in my prayers. And again like Karl, I feel empty. :(
