afishhunter afishhunter Basically agree with you Steve. However, if I have a knife that I don't quite click with-it can be good but somehow I just don't connect with it, then it will stay unused. Then it can be traded, sold or given away accordingly. I will say that sometimes I'm fortunate enough to have twins of the same knife- one to keep in reserve and the other to use, not too often though.

With carbon, patina is a full-time devotion: it changes and sometimes can look amazing, other times a foul mess, or danger zone of pitting  With the knife shown, it spent a week outside in the rain on top of a well-head, Stag had bloated- it looked a mess. But slow drying & cleaning got it back to excellence. I sometimes polished off the patina as blotchy and started again, it's like a maturation process  We should get a salary from the Patina Republic for faithful service 🤣

agree.... patina should be something that just happens, with use and time.
This 68 White Owl is beginning to show some character, but it's just a function of use and time. I rotate through probably 15 or so knives, and usually carry each one at least a week at a time.
This particular one hasn't seen quite as much pocket time as say, my Bunny knife, or a couple of my sowbellies... but it IS a really nice, comfortable size of a knife that almost disappears in the pocket.... and while I usually like stag to have some "tooth" to it, I have come to appreciate the smoother feel of these scales....

The White Owl is a great compact carry whatever the scales:cool: I even have one of the non rusting variety 🤣 My real regret though is not getting hold of a Spear version when they were available, but they're scarce.

Thanks, Will
