You've sure got an eye for patina, Ron!Gary I’m going to venture a guess and say it’s the ones that have the same initials! It’s the SBJ’s or more affectionately known as Sway Back Jack and Sod Buster Junior!
Your photo also shows Very well the common color variations in Cases Chestnut Jigged Bone CV series!

Thanks, James.Nice group GT!! How old is your Chestnut tree?![]()
That is a fantastic shot, Gary! You've sure got an eye for patina, Ron!Thanks for the nice remark about my photo.
Thanks, James.I also now have a chestnut bone teardrop jack (with some patina), but it's not in a group shot yet. I got my first chestnut jigged Case in a BigBiscuit GAW in January 2015, and I've been enamored with them ever since. A couple of the others in that shot are also generous gifts (thanks, Paul & Ron). Next on my Chestnut bone CV list is probably a muskrat, and then maybe a medium stockman (although I'm not thrilled that it has square bolsters
).
Here's my favorite photo of the SBJr (with some patina), taken while vacationing by Lake Huron in Michigan's Upper Peninsula:

Back when case knives still came with a pointy tipThis one came to me like this, I was attracted to the patina and of course it being an 80 to 90 year old knife in great condition helped.

Right, the tips were so fine and thin many of the old knives suffered a broken tip which is the reason so many have shorter blades.Back when case knives still came with a pointy tip
Beautiful picture 5k! Looks like a wonderful place to vacation or to wet a line. You've sure got an eye for patina, Ron!Thanks for the nice remark about my photo.
