Gary I’m going to venture a guess and say it’s the ones that have the same initials! It’s the SBJ’s or more affectionately known as Sway Back Jack and Sod Buster Junior! :D Your photo also shows Very well the common color variations in Cases Chestnut Jigged Bone CV series! :)

Top knife has some Patina ,bottom is a virgin.

I've noticed,on these knives by John Lloyd, after they get a pretty good patina on them,if you need to clean gunk off the blade & use a " scotch brite" pad at the sink, they don't seem to show any scratches ,un like a " bright" blade. They really age well

@Signalprick I should do the same just so I don’t have so many knives. Having so many makes me have to make patina to have some. What I do for immediate patina, I couldn’t do in a lifetime.

A few patina treatments that wouldn’t happen with me from use. A washing of coin & blots & nuts and creek stones gave me bumps and bruises that would never happen from my use. She also got a hot lemon juice towel wrap.

Now the fun part. I’ve been putting food patina on it for days. I even had to resharpen it on my Shapmaker. However, I only had to strop with the ceramics and it’s razor sharp again.

So yummy.

I cleaned it up a bit with a rust eraser.

While my friends were drinking, I was playing with my knife and its patina. This its current state.

I have a nice natural patina started on my American Jack and I cut down a sapling on Saturday, now there a couple of very dark black lines and spots on the blade. Is that just more patina or something I want to get off of the blade?

You've sure got an eye for patina, Ron!;):) Thanks for the nice remark about my photo.

Nice group GT!! How old is your Chestnut tree? ;)
Thanks, James. :) I also now have a chestnut bone teardrop jack (with some patina), but it's not in a group shot yet. I got my first chestnut jigged Case in a BigBiscuit GAW in January 2015, and I've been enamored with them ever since. A couple of the others in that shot are also generous gifts (thanks, Paul & Ron). Next on my Chestnut bone CV list is probably a muskrat, and then maybe a medium stockman (although I'm not thrilled that it has square bolsters ).

Here's my favorite photo of the SBJr (with some patina), taken while vacationing by Lake Huron in Michigan's Upper Peninsula:
