Thanks, 5K Qs 5K Qs . Last week some of that brand cleaner was left in the bottom of a stainless steel sink in a house we were redoing. Left overnight a 50 cent piece puddle left a dark splotch with a darker ring around it. I had to work for several minutes with a worn out sanding pad,to remove the stain/etch. Used an old one so it wouldn't scuff the sink deeply just blend with the brushed finish. That's when a light bulb went off, "stainless" is more a marketing thing than anything. The proper term is stain resistant, it can and will corrode. Especially that with a higher carbon content.

Cool Belknap, Gary. It looks like there were many configurations of these old Imperial Barlows. Here is what I figure is akin to the ol' stripped down pick up model.

That's some serious recurve you've got there. I'm guessing it was like that when you acquired it?
Thanks for the comments on my Belknap Blue Grass Barlow, FBC and Joshua. I don't remember where I got that knife, but I'd guess it was in my wife's stuff when we got married. I know it spent about 30 years in my window repair bucket under the workbench and did a fair amount of scraping putty, prying glazing points, and trimming wooden window frames. But it must have had the recurve when I got it, because I've never tried to sharpen it. Now that I've started having some minor success with my DMT Magnaguide system, I should see what I can do with the Blue Grass blades.

I like your basic Imperial Barlow, FBC. I gave away one quite similar to that, but it had the dark brown handles with the cream-colored edges:
