I do not patronizingly say things like, "He was a good man." However, I did read that he was married to his highschool sweetheart since 1975. That is not common in actors, and is admirable. RIP
Pancreatic cancer is one awful way to go... from the interviews I've seen, I think Swayze willingly fought it as best he could... probably endured a lot of unnecessary suffering out of his determination to survive as long as he had hope... but rich or poor, the odds are not good with this particular disease. Lost a loved one to it myself. I don't imagine what his friends and family went through was much different.
I watched him in "North and South" when I was a kid.
Funny, I really don't know of any actor who was so well-remembered, almost iconic, for films for the girls (Dirty Dancing, Ghost) as well as the guys (Road House, Point Break).
He was one of the good guys as an actor. Im really gonna miss him. He had a big part in my life as a teenager. Ill miss him greatly. Smoke and Prayers for him and his family.
A fine actor !
With Pancreatic cancer you have only a 2 or 3 % chance of surviving. Surgery can only rarely be performed so chemo and radiation are the only treatments.
