I hear you, but actually, we hope to sell this item to more than " 90% hardcore knifenuts ". Don't get me wrong, we really hope the folks here on BF like and buy the PATROL MACHETE, but we believe there is a larger market for it. It has been our market research that a large portion of the folks interested in this machete, are MUCH more interested in the machete than its sheath. Actually, alot of folks have considered the sheath that comes with it, a vast improvement over most machete sheaths. Believe me that the type of sheath that would have satisfied most folks here on BF, would have driven the retail cost of the entire package WAY up, probally closer to $200 than $100.
Also we have noted in the past, a large number of BF's members replace WHATEVER sheath you send with a knife anyway.It just their nature to personalize products. So we make what we feel is a high performance product, with a fully functional sheath. Granted some people will want a customize their carry options, but that can best be done by them, because this way, they will have plenty of $$$ left over to do it the way they want.
Cam, thanks for your views on the matter, believe me, we listen to ALL opinions here, but this one we thought out well in advance of shipping the first machete.
