I sent my Paul Duncan Custom knife to him for refurbish and to have the clip re-drilled for tip-up carry.

He emailed me on March 2nd to let me know it arrived and that he would start on it soon.

I emailed him after three weeks and then about every week or two since then. It always takes around a week to get a reply if he replies at all. Last time was nearly a month ago when he said sorry and that he would be sending it back.

NOW, I finally tried to call him and the phone is disconnected and his website is down! What the HECK is going on?

I emailed him one more time with an urgent and concerned tone, but given the history of this ordeal I don't expect to hear back for a week if I hear back at all.

The list price on his site for the knife was $275 and only had some really minor things wrong with it. (I had bought it from another forum member.) I really regret sending it to Paul Duncan for the refurb because now I'm out the whole thing! :(

I don't know what's up with his phone/website being out  I know he is supposed to be at a show this weekend, so response times might have been slowed down due to getting everything ready for the show... but the time frame you're talking about is a little crazy for a simple reply.

I'll try to get contact info for ya at the show.

Nope. I've got a buddy trying to get ahold of his brother Brad. I might give Brad a call personally today.

Paul's website is still down and the number is disconnected.

I'm not going to Blade. Maybe somebody can look into this for me while they're there?

UPDATE:

I got ahold of Brad Duncan. (The stepbrother. Different knife company.)
Brad said he hasn't talked to Paul in a LONG time - perhaps since the last Blade show, but he took my name and number and said he'd do what he could.

I can only hope. This is probably my last chance to get my knife back. :(

He DID take my name and number though which he didn't have to do. I imagine he'll call Paul and tell him what I said. If it's honestly just something that fell through the cracks I'm sure I'll hear from Paul. Gotta give him the benefit of the doubt, still.

Still nothing.

Well, if anyone runs into Paul Duncan at Blade please try to get his contact information for me or at least direct his attention to this thread.

Someday he might want to start making knives again and I'm sure he won't want this scar on his reputation.

I didn't see Paul, or even Brad for that matter, at Blade.

I've run into him at a gun show or two in Mobile a year or so ago, and I'm gonna try to start regularly hitting gun shows over there again soon, so I'll keep my eyes open for him.

Hope this all gets worked out bro.

Well, it's been nearly a year. Are you ready for an update?

Periodically throughout the year I'd check to see if Paul Duncan's website came back up (which it never did) or drop him an email which never received a reply.

On December 28, 2004 HE REPLIED! He said that Hurrican Ivan had destroyed his workshop and his PC, that he had my knife and that he just needed my address again to ship me my knife. Well, I looked up Hurricane Ivan and it turns out that Hurricane Ivan struck in Mid September of 2004 and if you read back up the thread you'll see that he was done and was going to ship my knife back in March 2004 and then disappeared off the planet soon after. So what happened between March of 2004 when he said he'd ship the knife and September when he got hit by Hurricane Ivan? I have a hard time feeling sorry for a guy that was jerking me around for 6 months BEFORE he got hit by a hurricane.

In any case, I was nice about it because I still wanted my knife back. I gave him my address again.
Nothing.

On January 14th he emailed asking for my address again. I gave it to him. Still nothing.
On January 25th he said he had been sick and that he would mail it the next day or the day after.

It's now February 3rd. Still no knife. No replies to emails.

This guy's seriously messing with my head. :grumpy:

[By the way, I still have all the emails to prove all of this schit.]

That sucks! I hope you will get your knife back eventually though. Let's hope he can manage to stear clear of any more hurricanes otherwise you may have to wait a bit longer
