I just saw this on Peter Atwood's blog and thought folks here should know. Have a look at the listing below.

And now check out Peter's page listing the Bike Tool, his tool.

Scumbag thief is the nicest thing I'll call this Paul Harris. :barf:

And in case the listing gets pulled so as to make that first URL invalid, here's a screen capture.

Very strange. He clearly credits Peter. Have you contacted him or Peter to verify if they have an understanding?

It is nice that he is credited. Still is a rip off.

On a side note, Peter does a great job of cutting the hex-bolt holes.

Hmmm, Paul Harris from Stirling.

I know a few people in Stirling, its a small place. May be we can pay him a visit next time i go home. Show him what an Atwood bugout bar can do ;)

That is pretty lame :thumbdn:

That's not giving him credit, that's stealing his name to advertise the stolen design, so every potential customer who searchs for a Peter Atwood tool will find the knockoffs too.

Not saying it is, but it could be that the seller didn't realize that the knife community can be pretty tight or what they where doing was wrong.

It seems to be normal for ebay listings to to reference the original when trying to sell a copy. If all you have ever seen is ebay, you'd think that was the way to do things.

Latest from Peter's blog is

"Mr Harris has agreed to take down the listing and has apologized to me. End of matter."

Regarding Dave's point about possibly not knowing what the knife community's reaction might be, well, yeah it's possible. However, before this was resolved Peter also said the following on his blog.

"Well, he's been a customer of mine for a while now and he's always seemed reasonable. This is why I can't believe he would buy a bunch of stuff from me then decide to start copying it."

Perhaps I'm too cynical, but given the above statement I'd have a very hard time believing this guy thought it would really be kosher to do what he did. I'm glad the situation has reached a reasonable conclusion, but it never should have come to be in the first place, and that's one of the most annoying things about it.

Onward and upward...:)

Huh? Did they dry up the Atlantic when I wasn't looking? Or did they move Scotland? I've heard of continental drift, but I thought it would take longer than that....

At least It wasn't an overseas rip-off, that would be much harder to stop.

Sure it was. Paul lives in England -or you think that China is the only place that makes forgeries?
