Pause to CK Early Reserves

I agree but he did say “apply” which makes me think he probably allowed his regular customers in the club. With only half the reserves available now, I think I’m going to check out for a while. I feel for the guys that were into GEC’s in the good ole days. I’ve only been buying them for the past year and within the last six months it’s gotten to be too much. I’ll be back when they do another run of 72’s 😂

I've been collecting GEC since 2019 so I'm still on the newer side compared to some of the long time collectors on the porch, but I was lucky enough to build a nice small collection of GECs. Took quite a hustle to try and grab one of each pattern released but the last year has gotten pretty crazy. The CK system was the only reason I was able to score some of the more sought after patterns but I might end up slowing down the growth of my collection and just enjoy the ones I already have.

It's too bad so many people bailed out on their reserves but I totally get Mike doing what he has to do.

Mike commented that they would be cracking down against things like that. Maybe I'm misunderstanding. One guy on the GECC page said he had joined the Hardcore list so he'd be able to provide knives for those who missed out, and Mike responded that he was removing that member from the list. So, ya pays your money, ya takes your chances. 🤷‍♂️

That was just a semi-joke. Didn't remove him, but did raise the flag that this is a very small group and not for group-buys or flippers.

There was some thought put into it and how to handle most situations. Just tweaking a system that was used by EVERYONE to get on another list. Flippers, folks that will only buy GEC's for trade fodder, etc. etc. were bogging the ERS system up such that very longstanding customers (customers that pre-dated most all that don't like the new program) were pushed completely out of our existing system.

Thank you for the clarification.

I'm a high-roller GEC collector, sometimes purchasing as many as two or three knives in the same year. :)
It's a bit disappointing to hear that catching a new release will be even more difficult, but I'm in favor of Mike doing whatever he thinks is best for his business. 👍

It looks like it’s going to kick in after the 73s. I’m hoping GEC continues to stick to runs with fewer cover options to keep it manageable.

Thanks for reversing course on the reserve system Mike. I like it and hope it continues to work with your Business model.
