I would like to claim this Navy if it's still available. I have something special I will post up in PIF tomorrow to meet the criteria

You got it A Justice. I received your PM with your address and I will PM or email you once shipped. Thanks for putting one up and keeping it going! :)

Maybe not just yet, people are sleeping now after all. Lets see what everyone thinks tomorrow?

+1 Lets see how it is tomorrow. Idc who starts the next one really, it would just be cool to start it :D But who ever is on first and can do it first has my vote lol

Thank Simple Man and Mykel! The strop showed up today and it's working great. My mora is now hair splitting sharp with very little effort on my part. I also shot you an email with a few questions. Thanks again.
Myke the Camillus is really nice. It's thinner than expected which makes it carry nicely. Had it with me today and will again tomorrow. And the blades are all ground thin and sharp. Two things I like in a folder. Thank you very much. This one will get used.

Here's a pic of them together.

Thanks everyone for the EDC selection and pics! Random number generator spit out number 1, so Simple Man the Hogue EX03 is yours. Email me your address and I will send it out to you later this week.
Grats SM & thanks again for the chance Whet.

I love how everyone debates on who starts the next thread here lol; in Snark we just jump on it, keep it rolling.

I'm not waiting on the next thread so much as I am for people to wake up and me to find a convienent time within those "normal hours"

I don't really see the point of starting a new thread. We are creating a lot of extra baggage, and truth be told, it's easier to search a single huge thread than try to search multiple threads, if that is what you're trying to do. I very seriously doubt keeping it all in one thread will make things harder.

I think at the very least we should try for maybe 2-3000 posts before making another, just because it is becoming a long list of links to previous threads. In the long run, that will become REALLY tedious.

I'm with Remy...never understood why we close & remake at all! Searching a single thread is easy...multiple? Not so much. Just my .02!

I don't think anyone ever asked but there are numerous 2000+ post threads on the first page of "general knife" brought back up several times a week.

I agree and thought the last one should have gone on longer

Remy, this is the steel u gave me. I turned it into the start of a really good knife i think! Still needs polishing, a better bevel (kinda rounded it removing pits) and maybe some filework. Here's the progress thus far anyway....(edit....oh and a lanyard for sure!)

Wow!! Very nice work! I am impressed.

I agree that we should let it go as long as possible, but thought there was some sort of unwritten understanding about 1,000 posts. I could have mis-read that from the first PIF thread though.

To repay the extreme generosity shown towards me lately, namely receiving that tent from whet and being chosen for the mini tool by pionessr (I can't thank you guys enough), my next PIF will be something very near and dear to my heart.

Its a little rough around the edges (literally), its taken to hell and back and the edge put to a grinder (while maintaining temper of course) but I love this knife, its been a solid work horse for a while now, my 1st quality large chopper. So, with that love that love must come with a couple of stipulations.

1. This knife is for someone who does not have a large chopper/"wood proccesing" knife and intends to use it. Do not claim if you already have a hard use fixed blade (even short one) or intend to leave it sit in a drawer somewhere.

2 No claiming till... 2p.m. I feel that's a good enough stretch of time for the people who may need it to see it and prevent it just being taken.

Now for the knife,

'Tis a KABAR 1277 "Large heavy Bowie"

Carbon steel knife that needs some care, it'll rust up quick. Steel is listed as 1085 but its not really, its a some type of Taiwanese equivalent Spring steel meaning it can really take abuse , RC hardness 55-57, full quarter inch, distally tapered, full flat grind puece of differentially hardened (tang is softer) piece of steel.

Designed as competition for the BK9, this knife has every leg up over the Becker and honestly, I like it better but I don't need both, so here's my older one for you

The only flaw that could be found against the Becker the Becker is that it's not full width tang but that is not really even a flaw. With nice round transitions to the tang (no stress risers) and being softer .25" spring steel, full length hidden tang; good luck on breaking this knife.

It is better balanced than the bk9 meaning less blade heavy when chopping but lighter, faster, and just generally more knife like in hand even while being thicker all the way through from pommel to tip than the Becker. Also pointier too

If that's you're jazz you'll love this knife.

Here ya go

Reciever of this knife will get it fully stock, box and all, never used factory sheath, cardboard slip, ect. Keep the cardboard for long term storage with a coat of oil if ever the day to put it up comes; never store a carbon knife in its leather sheath.

The lanyard and rubber bands are mine, enjoy...

That looks REALLY awesome. I knew there was a reason I kept it around! Was it much of a PITA to deal with the pitting? That's the main reason I stopped working on it.
