Pay It Forward -- it's been a while

That's one funky looking knife! What's the circle cut out of the blade for? Is that a bottle opener?

The hole is spyderco's equivalent of a thumb stud I believe. And yep, I would call that a bottle opener

I said I was going to put it back up and kept putting it off. Here it is for its glorious second debut! I'm putting the 5.11 Tarani Karambit back up. I do have to ask 2 things as requirements, you have to be an established member (before July, posts outside exchange, paid membership preferred), and you have to truly want a karambit. I got it to "give it a shot" and I can say from personal experience that it was a train wreck. The karambit is a real head scratcher of a design, and it absolutely does not go well with a small hand, and it doesn't not carry like any other kind of knife at all, it rides super high in the pocket and the ring feels pretty awkward sometimes.

That said, the blade steel is 154cm, the handles are a kind of G10 texture nylon (a little smooth, but a bit grippy), and in great mechanical condition (no lateral play, only a tiny bit of vertical, normal for many lock backs). In the photograph is my Mini Grip for scale, no bloody way is that thing up for grabs! I only have a final request, I can't enforce it, but if you don't like it do like I did and pass it back in, it will eventually get to a good home!

I'm not a paying member, so if you would like to hold it that is perfectly fine. If not I would love to try this and either put it back up if it doesn't work out or put something else up. Let me know, thanks!

Huh...a bottle opener on a hooked shaped blade.... after a few beers I'm not sure that'd be the safest way to pop a cap. I think I'd rather chip a tooth than lose a finger or cut my wrist. Talk about a bummer at a party!

It started as an oval thumb hole, like the Spyderhole on Spyderco knives, but part of it was cut away to emulate an Emerson wave hook opener to catch the corner of your pocket and open the blade as it comes out of your pocket. It can also be used as a less effective bottle opener.

No deal! You have only been here for a year and have a mere nearly 500 posts. It's like you don't even exist! That's a joke, if you can handle a karambit, it's yours, I would just like if you pay it forward if you like it, or try to find it a good home if you don't. Just please don't take it and run or sell it, keep it in our community ;)

Send me an email and we can get some info exchanging so I can get it out to you.

I just got a knife that fellow member Blues Bender was awesome enough to sell me at a great price, seriously he rocks, so I figure I would spread the love a little and post up another knife that gets no love from me because it hates me and my small hands. Up for grabs is my Cold Steel Recon 1 Clip Point. It bit me pretty hard last time I tried to open it because my fingers are simply too short. It can't really be flicked open.

The knife has a few mostly cosmetic issues, it has been sanded pretty harshly by the previous owner under the right hand clip, I toned the texture down a hair on the left hand clip so it won't shred pockets, but you can barely even tell I did it (gentle touch is key!). There are some scratches on the blade, and it could use a new edge because the precious owner gave it a pretty deep convex, but it will cut and is decently sharp as is. My only requirement for this knife is pay it forward if you keep it, find a good home if you don't.

That is a very nice knife! If is still available I'll like to give it a home...
Kind regards..

Oh, I just found out that Victorinox won't fix my alox electrician as they said they can't. :grumpy: Anybody know a good doctor? I still really appreciate the gift, just grumpy at Vic on this one.

I might try and reshape the blades into something else entirely and make a whittler out of it or maybe try out nodding and sacrifice a newer one for the important parts. If I do any mad science I'll make sure to update to the thread.

Just got this in the mail!

And yeah... I'll need to tone it down... It already flew out of my hand once...

Not entirely sure on the model, but it's a boker automatic. Got a mighty powerful opening mechanism...

If it is just the old cross that you want consider work done on your knife by one of the custom SAK guys here or on the Multi-tool forum. There's a guy that does great work. I think his name is Syph007. I have never heard a bad thing about him or his work.

Is the M2 Cru photobombing in the background the knife you got from BB?

I will admit his name came to mind. I'm just not sure I can afford it. I'll probably scrape some cash together after I fubar the poor thing.
