All right, fellas. Here's another one.

Up for grabs is a (basically) brand new Kershaw Freefall from that holiday exclusive pack from a major retailer. I say basically brand new because it's out of the package and I tried cutting some paper with it. It didn't do so hot considering it has a weak factory edge (which is extremely rare from Kershaw) and the bevels are all out of whack. It also doesn't flip well, at all. But I'm sure with a little tlc this thing will make a good beater for just about anyone. Just post here in the comments if you're interested. I will do my best to sharpen this sucker up for whoever claims it. Thanks guys, let's keep this thing moving.

If no one else has claimed this, I would love to take if off of your hands, aside from an edc opinel, I don't have any designated beater knives.

OK -

And now we have a joint PIF. Member DKB45 is offering up a modded Svord with Black Poly Scales. He rounded off the pointed bottom, replaced the brass screws with steel ones, added nylon? washers to the pivot, put in a larger stop pin, and blued the silver part of the blade. All in all it makes for a sturdier Svord with a smoother open action He also put an exceptional edge on it. To add to this I've made a leather sheath for it to carry it on your belt. Its a primitive sheath for a primitive knife but its nice beeswaxed leather laced with waxed rawhide cord. It has a belt slit on the back for 1.5" belts. Here are some pics:

Our only stipulations for claiming is we hope you can PIF something with your claim (if you haven't PIF already) so as to keep this thread going.

Claim here first and send me an email with your username included. Claim away!

Washers are nylon. The whole blade was patina'd, then satined, then blued back over (bloody thing was starting to spot in under a day!). The blade stop is a hair too large, and could use being trimmed down a little. The tip of the blade could also use a little reshaping to be a bit pointier (it rounded out a little in sharpening). The washers are the thinnest nylon ones my local TruValue had (if I had known at the time you can buy knife washers online I would have). I also put a spacer on the end screw on the handle so the blade has room and the scales don't rub. For that knife being my first mod project, it turned out half decent.

thanks for all the comments guys- I've bought Endura (got to support local business, even it costs a few bobs extra*), and to explain price- shipping and duties add extra, and we have fairly steep taxes over here. Without 20% discount I got, the knife would cost 115$ and they say Spyderco are raising their prices as of New Year (as are some other manufacturers like Nieto).

If anyone's interested, and willing to put in some TLC into this one, I'd like to PIF my great-grandfather's pocket knife (probably made in Canada or USA where he lived before WWII):

* mind you- I think they've added me to their Christmas list (been asked for my phone number, so they can contact me once they get the knives Victorinox is sending them to give their special partners and customers).

30Z, Mr. Bad, & Mac -

I didn't make it to the PO today. I will get the knives out Monday morning. Sorry guys.

Also, I have a couple others to put up after I get these sent out.

A big thank you to Wheeler80 for the Anza that arrived today. This is a really neat knife and sharp too. I put it on my belt while outside in the snow. Here's a shot.

Update: NYOutdoors no sign of the lost in transit leek as of today.

Great work guys, i missed that by an hour or would have definitely tried to claim it. Congrats Chewy!

Sorry you missed it Whet. I thought you had the svord from Remy but I guess that went to RainDog? Well if you wind up picking one up let me know if you want a sheath. It's not much trouble and I'm getting faster and better? at it.

Chewy - sorry it may take me a bit longer to get the Svord and sheath out to you. My granddad passed away this morning and I'm at the airport on my way to Memphis as we speak. Couldn't bring a knife or leather tools on my carryon. I'll let you know when I'm back home and able to get it together.

if you bought the 2-pack of the freefall and swerve then your concerns about the qaulity are because its not actually a kershaw. wal-mart struck a deal with kershaw to let them make a copy of a couple of kershaw's designs. They have 3cr instead of the normal 8cr and other corners that have been cut. They tricked a lot of people into thinking they were getting a deal. It's a shame kershaw sold out like that

p.s. sorry about your grandad lempris. R.I.P.

Glad you like it. I really like Anza's. You can get them crazy sharp and they're extremely tough.

Lemepris - My condolences on your loss

Very happy to repay the generosity that's been shown to me by this forum. I have really appreciated all the free advise and tips. Can't wait to become a member after the new year......when every xtra dollar isn't going to Xmas!
