Thanks so much to Nikki for the Mora! Here it is after battoning kindling:

And thanks to Mr. Arnold (30ZappHappy30) for the Kershaw OD-2! Here it is:

Thanks again to Superpaco, and Swiftdestroyer for your amazing generosity !!!!! I'm sure Worldwood will get great use, and enjoyment out of it for many years.

I was in on the first couple of PIF's started by Jim. Been popping in here and there. I remember all the bike talk between these dudes. It seriously warms my heart to see the results. Woody, I wish you the best, man. From reading these posts, I can say with confidence that you're a solid dude who deserves everything in that giant box. Superpaco and Swiftdestroyer, my hat's off to you both. Thank you for your generosity

I like that kershaw OD-2 never looked at one before, how big is it? That's a good combo you got there, very capiable, you should give the Mora a try in the kitchen, see how it does there. One day I'll pick up a Mora, I can't believe I haven't gotten one yet, I've only had it on my list since I first started a knife list lol! What's your opinion of the bushcraft, do you have a companion to compair it to?

Good pictures (I don't know crap about photography but it looks good to me!) especially that top shot of the mora, nice.

Lol I just re-read my paragraph, my 6 year old is getting to me; somewhat releated thoughts thrown together in a non-stop stream of words all day long.

Hey man,

Re-send me your shipping address and I'll have a Mora in the mail to you next time I go to the PO.

Hey CK, I just sent you a message on your flashlight holders.

Size of the OD-2: Very small! Here it is next to a quarter:

About the Mora, I don't have much to compare it to, but It works great for battoning with a wooden mallet that I made and for other chores.

I'm 13, but really enjoy photography and hope to make a career out of it. Thanks for the compliment!

Try using the mora for feather sticking next time :)

Also it doesn't have the heft of a bulky American style fixed blade. If you beat the crap out of it with that baton, eventually its gunna break.

Glad you're starting out right!

Hmm, im adding that to my list of knives to try out. Ive been on a Kershaw kick lately, theyve got some seriously nice cheap assisted folders, i really like my Asset and the Blackout is dang cool

Yeah--I don't baton logs with it (thats what hatchets are for!) but it's perfect for breaking down chunks of split wood into kindling.

If I break it, I will weld a slab of 01 onto the handle and create the world's first full tang custom handled mora!

Ha, you remind me of myself! I welded the handles back on to my 1st few cheap fixed blades too :)

It doesn't really hold up well but is solid enough for knife purposes. After breaking them apart a few times, I moved on to kabar. 1st buy was a tanto 1245, broke that. Moved to a Large Heavy Bowie (1277?), that's ones still going strong. Replaced the tanto with a 1247 Warthog (my favorite knife) and don't beat on if I can help it, still going strong. And picked up a couple of Beckers to try to put them out of commission.

My Kabar BK14 is coming today or tomorrow! I can't wait.

I just bought a Mora with a .125 inch thick blade. That's the same thickness as the steel I have, so it should work to weld it. The idea will be:

1. Remove the plastic handle
2. Saw off the majority of the tang
3. Weld a slab of .125 01 steel onto it
4. Grind the new steel to shape
5. Attach a handle made of hand-harvested maple (starting with logs and going to boards)
6. Finish the handle/polish blade/etc.

I'll be creating a thread for this project. After I get started, I'll post the link to the thread here.

I wouldn't trust a weld at the handle for a full tang knife. Defeats the purpose of strength. Especially if you're going to baton. Just my opinion though.
