Pay it Forward-The Remake Part 4

I am going to throw my hat in the ring here. I have two knives I would like to see if anyone is interested in. They were acid etched and stonewashed by me.

The first, a Spyderco Persistence, is the first knife I ever tried and it turned out pretty good. I was not happy with how the pivot area turned out as I didn't sufficiently protect the track of the detente ball. You can feel a slight bump when opening but it isn't that bad at all. I tried smoothing it out and you can see that. It is however a perfectly capable knife and is very sharp.

The second is a Kershaw Leek I obtained in a trade. It turned out very good. There is a slight re-curve to the blade from being sharpened so much (I think the Leek is from '08) but there is a lot of life left. I removed the safety and don't plan on putting it back, but if I can find it I will send it along with the knife.

Awesome work. I think that they look great!

eschwebach that is probably one the best looking Spyderco Persistence blades that I've seen. Very nice work !!

I think OKC should reward people who are giving away RATs on this thread- especially Whetstone and Lionesser... My local knife shop is general importer of Victorinox, Spyderco and Nieto (might as well be ZT but am not sure*) brands for my country and last time I visited I bragged so much about my knife, showed it to them and they took a look- they are sufficiently impressed and will apparently consider adding RATs to their lineup. :D

I love the RAT-1 I recieved from Lionesser. It has become the only folder I EDC now even though I have others that are more expensive (not as expensive as some own) but have found it to be better than most folders that cost more.

You have a lot of cool looking knives, but I think that leek is one of the best looking knives I've ever seen! Always wondered how it came to look like that. Great work.

If the persistance is still available I'd like it for my fiance. She has been taking my Benchmade with her for "just in case" protection when jogging. This way she'd have her own knife. Plus she loves blue.

Also, the stone washing looks great.

Sorry Torque, but it was claimed back in post #854. Thanks for the compliment.

Cereal Thank you bud!! Today I got the Torx screw set thingy and some sandpaper.
(( deal spotting ))

And NyOutdoors, I received the handles today as well, thank man these are perfect. They will either be replacing some current scales, or going on a new custom knife in the not too distant future. Thanks again Bro.

Yeah, definitely worth it at this point. Gonna up it to basic come payday (sad, but money is tight).

Hey WorldWood--check out the 1x30 belt sander at Harbor Freight. I bought one for stock removal on steel and wood, and it works really well.

In case you buy anything from Harbor Freight, here is a coupon: 11051881. For in store, print this: www.harborfreight.com/20off-coupon912-aff-17560.html?utm_source=cj&utm_medium=aff&utm_campaign=wts-coupons&hftref=cj

It gives you 25% off of any one item.

EDIT: I see you already have the coupon. Well, maybe somebody else can use it. :)

Thanks Spydie!

Nice work on that Leek, eschwebach! That's one sexy example.

Thanks man, I have been looking at a Kalamazoo 1x42 but its not cheap. But i think would make one of the best in the price range for knives.

Macgyver, what knife is the fixed blade with the learher sheath?

May I claim that fixed blade? It reminds me of a Gerber I lost a few years ago.

I gotta second this, the HF 1 X 30 does real well, especially with a set of belts from Lee Valley. But honestly, The ones I use most are a worn down Lowes belt and a 1000 grit or so from Lee Valley. I got a leather belt at the same time from them for stropping, but have moved on to the HF 8" buffer with paper wheels on it. I still use the 1 x 30 for reprofiling though.
