This place was dead @4:57 this morning.

Simple man, I believe you asked about best KA-BAR? I'll give you my opinion.

Its the 1247 Warthog. They've been out of print for 5years now but can still be found under the hundred dollar mark and are by no means rare.

That's best as far as Fighting/Utility models go. The thing will break if you beat the snot out of it. They all will.

Again, they have different lines in current production. Good luck breaking a 1277 Large Heavy Bowie, stick tang or not, that tang is .25" thick, differentially treated, and transitions smoothly from the blade (no Stress risers)

Nope, it was sir_mike. I never have gotten into KaBar much for some reason. Thanks though. ;)

what model one is the best to have? :)

I never owned one, however I did look at the fixed blade ones for quite awhile but never pulled the trigger!

Warthog pic added, just because.....:emot-yarr:

The only post lunchtime activity I wish to have is a nap. However, my coworkers might not share the same consensus.

Sure.

So, are we working an a #1000 post, post lunchtime drive?
Idk, I'm going to cook lol.

If remms not in, I don't believe that we have to wait for him to be the one to open the new thread. In snark, we just keep it going. Doesn't matter who reopens, long as it reopens.

Honestly, I've never understood such wide blades. I like nice 1-1.5" wide blades... Mora like
In all seriousness, that is a short knife. 5", normal thickness, not a quarter inch brute and that width gives it the chopping power of a large bowie.

Kinda like machetes, the power comes from the width.

Also, it makes the double guard not that big of a deal, when on skinnier blades it gets in the way.

Huh. I never thought of that. I don't really ever chop with knives and I'm not a fan of double guards, so I guess it's all just different preferences for different uses.

I don't know why but every time i see that knife i think the same thing: that would be awesome for cutting off the top of a pumpkin. Again no idea why

Huh... I was looking at the calypso sprint run from spyderco and thought how good it would be to carve a jack o lantern
