Paypal for knife sales - need help please

Paypal gets it's cut out of each transfer. The recipient gets the haircut--- each recipient. I don't know if this is still the case, but I believe it is.

Hope I am not hijacking this thread, but it looks like the PayPal mavens are here so maybe you can clarify something.

The situation is:

1) I have a credit-card based PayPal account, so I cannot receive payments from credit-card based PayPal accounts but I can receive them from account-based or account-linked PayPal accounts, right?

2) Assuming #1 is correct (I have received payments to my PayPal account a couple of times from what were described to me as being account-based Paypal accounts), and assuming someone wants to PayPal me money but he only has a credit-card based account, could he PayPal the money to someone with an account-based account, who could then PayPal it to me? Would someome be out 3% (or more) somewhere along the line (I am guessing the original recipient with the account-based account)?

Thanks, guys. If the mods want to move this, I understand.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a "credit card" based account, but You should be able to receive money from any Paypal account, regardless. And yes, you will be popped 3%. The receiver is always the one who is charged the Paypal commission.

Hi Matt
Whoever is on the receiving end of the credit card PayPal payment will get dinged the transaction fee, plus the percentage of the total amount being transferred. The next stage PayPal account(after the personal account) allows you to accept credit card payments and such, but then charges you for EVERY transaction where you receive funds. Not to mention CURRENCY CONVERSION FEES, BORDER CROSSING FEES, etc. After all, they'd go under only charging 2.9% of tens of billions of dollars......
