Cool! I didn't know Paying members could send Non-paying members PM's.
They cant...
Sometimes when someone pays for a membership, or a renewal, and they dont update their user group to gold they still show blue... But you can still send them a PM.
Just got home from what I call work, wife and kids off school shopping. I have to fend for myself for supper, I had a nice right out of the garden fresh zucchini. Sliced er up with a BK5 and fried it up. Didn't get any pics of it., but damn it was good. Time to hit MY shop now, get to work, and hope the grease farts don't don't hinder my efforts.:barf:
So after some very limited time with the KME diamond kit I'm very pleased. I would recommend adding some type of magnifying lens to your kit. I have a dollar store magnifying glass laying around but I'll eventually be getting something like a jeweler's eye loupe. When I broke out the magnifier I could see that, as I suspected, there was a microbevel from my earlier attempts to sharpen it. I think for the time being I'll just go with it and raise the angle to get out the irregularities and add a new sharp microbevel and maybe next time try to get one consistent edge.
I have also found that the fat chisel-tip sharpie markers are so much better for marking the edge than the plain markers. You'll want one of those in your kit as well. I can color the edge in one pass and don't slip and get marker on the blade like a kid that can't color insider the lines of a coloring book.
I don't have the optional base yet but that wasn't much of a hindrance at all, in fact I made good progress on my Hornet last night sitting in a pickup. The base still seems easier though so I'll order one when I get a chance.
Moose talks very highly of the KME system. I wonder though how it compares with a lansky.
good to know I was thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these the other day. Moose talks very highly of the KME system. I wonder though how it compares with a lansky.
MUCH better than the Lansky
The one he was using at the last Gathering makes my Lansky look like something cobbled together by a moron.
