Fishing is good for the soul.

Actually catching fish is good for the tummy... that's just a bonus :)

Ang and I saw a bald eagle on the river today, which is almost passe' back in WI, but pretty rare down here. That was really cool.

BTW, whatever y'all do, DO NOT visit/move to/buy land in East Tennessee. The fishing/hunting is awful and there's absolutely nowhere to go, to see wildlife or stuff like that. The scenery is boring and lame and not pretty at all. Nothing to climb or hike or bike. There are no bass or trout or anything like that. It's terrible.

Winter is only 3 days long and barely involves any snow - how fouled-up is that? Also, there are no camping places. Or parks. Or independent family-owned BBQ places that have awesome food every day like that's just a normal thing. Nope.

Stay away, it sucks here. Seriously.

Yeah I bet it just sucks man, all that nothingness, nothing like the wonderful scenery here in the plains of Oklahoma ;)

I love bald eagles. They mean alot to me. When I was much younger I was quite lost and making bad choice after bad choice. It all caught up to me and I felt myself spiraling out of control. One day I was taking a drive in the country and it occured to me to pray....something i hadnt done in a long time. I asked for a sign that He was listening and would make it better. Within seconds as I was driving a bald eagle flew right over my truck and continued to fly in front of me for a couple hundred yards through some trees. As the trees faded into a field on the left side, the eagle veered in that direction. As he climbed above the treeline he flew right in front of a rainbow. It was as if he led me right to it. I probably wouldn't have seen it if i hadn't been watching the eagle. If that wasn't a sign I dont know what was. Lol. I was so overloaded with emotion I pulled the car over and wept. I knew things would get better. They didn't right away but within a few months things had worked themselves out....i moved back home and met my wife who brought God back into my life and gave me 3 amazing kids.....so yea I like bald eagles a lot

They're tasty also!

Way behind on snark and no energy or time to catch up. Much beer, very tired.

Left my uncle's about noon and made my way over to my friend's house a few hours drive away. Spent the afternoon catching up with two of my best friends and it'll be a fun few weeks to come.

And IBTL.

Good morning fellow Beckerheads and wanna-bees!

Thanks for the condolences and kind thoughts. I used to call my Mom every Sunday afternoon, so not doing that is going to take some getting used to. We went though this in February when my father-in-law passed away at age 97. Sherry (my wife) used to call him every Sunday at 8:05 pm which gave him a couple of minutes after "60 Minutes" was over. We've only been married for two years (this month), so we really didn't have a lot of time to get to know each others parents. Her Mom had passed 15 or so years ago, so I never got to meet her. So at this point, we're going to be sure to visit my father (age 78) as often as we can while we have the chance. For those doing the math, Sherry is the youngest in her family and I'm the oldest in mine, so she's only a few years older than me...

My Mom had at least partially filled out a book entitled "Making Things Easy For My Family", which I think should probably say "easier" rather than "easy" since it isn't easy even if you are prepared. The section on things she was proud of was important, and the 135 pints of blood donated the Red Cross is really impressive and shows a life-long commitment. I was up to about 12 or 13 pints before the Red Cross decided that anyone who lived in Europe more than six months during the 1980's (pretty much half the US Army at that point) couldn't donate out of concern for mad cow disease. I had given a half dozen or so times in college since we discovered that it's pretty cheap to get your blood alcohol to an elevated level if you start off a pint (of blood) low...and they tell you to drink plenty of fluids after you donate. (Kids, don't try this at home...it's a bad idea.) Then when I was a company commander, the first sergeant and I alternated months and any soldier that donated got a 3-day pass. We won the post "Blood Hound" award two years in a row. So, I'd encourage anyone who can give blood to do so...

Thanks again, and blessings to all !

Greg

btw ibtl
