At work they decided that they wanted us to wear a "uniform" of sorts, and they decided on 5.11 clothing. The Stryke pants are what we all ended up with, and they are hands down some of the most comfortable pants I have ever worn.

I have two pair of 5.11 Strykes. Good pants.

I like the 511 taclite pro pants and the taclite pro shorts a lot!

The little grab handle is a good place to attach my BK-16 sheath and the rear pocket's forward corner is a good place to clip a folder.

Left front Velcro pocket is great for a flashlight.

I wear cheapo rip stop pants from Wally. Work just fine and dandy.

man oh man...I just sent an email with fingers crossed to see results...making a case to a supervisor of the importance of being issued a good Made in The USA fixed blade for the performance of our duties...let's see what happens!!!

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent smallish shoulder bag that's lefty-friendly? I've been using an OPMOD shoulder bag, and while it's nice, the main compartment is just a hair too small to fit the condor med pouch that holds most of my emergency gear. I'd also like the low-profile compartment for concealed carry. Thought I'd ask, since there are so many gear 'Heads with lots of knowledge on here.

Tried to post this at 9:00 this morning, but BladeForums was not cooperating... It seems to not be letting me post with a quote.

QUOTE from James Terrio: " Goin' fishin', see y'all later. The wife and I are using my Dad's old rods and reels... none of it is fancy high-end stuff, but it ain't junk either. Makes me happy to get out to the water and remember/honor him this way.

Life is good. Take care, you rascals. :)"

Sounds like a great plan, James! Make some more good memories.

This was also supposed to be at the bottom but couldn't get it to post.

And I've been struggling with the words for an update on my Mom. I got a call yesterday morning from my brother that she had passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday night/Saturday morning. Things are still a bit surreal for me, and I'm having a hard time finding the right words...which is pretty rare for me. She had a good day on Thursday, and was having "appropriate interactions" as my sister (a nurse) put it. My Mom also had a good visit with a couple of her lady friends from church that day. My brother went back to St. Louis from Kansas City on Friday night, but our Mom mostly talked about getting ready for her funeral. My younger brother an sister got the call from the hospital about 6 am yesterday that our Mom had been a little restless during the night, then settled in, and peacefully stopped breathing. Like I said, words are kind of failing me right now, but we'll be doing a memorial some time in the next few weeks (she wanted to be cremated, so we've got time to plan) and will certainly mourn our loss, but will try to make it focus more on a celebration of her life and legacy. Kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, 20 years as an OASIS volunteer reading tutor, 135 pints of blood donated to the Red Cross, and so many other volunteer activities and friends in the Daughters of Isabella and the Red Hat Society.

Thanks again to all of you here for the thoughts, prayers and smoke during the last few weeks.

My sincere condolences, Greg. It's always hard to loose a family member, but especially hard to loose a parent. Be proud of the way she raised you and the good she did during her life.

So sorry man. Prayers headed your way.

Been trying to respond for some time, but it's not letting me.

EDIT: If I quote someone, it's not letting me post, but if I just respond, it does.

I am so sorry Greg. There is no " At least" or "It gets better" crap that can be said that means anything when you lose a loved one like this. Me and my family will say a prayer for you and yours.

Evan

Greg, I'm so sorry to hear this. We've been praying for your mom since I heard that she was in the hospital. We will say another for her tonight and for you and your family too.

Greg, I have been away from the forums for a few days but always try to pop in to see whats new. This is indeed bad news, I sincerely wish there was something I could say or do to take away your families pain. My sincere condolences.
