Well the search function isn't working for me, and the benchmade dealer locator isn't work either so I'm wondering if there are any knife shops in this state that I can go to. Been a while since I've been to a real knife shop. Found a spyderco dealer but don't knife if they are a knife shop or just have a few models.

I'm in Royersford, but will be going to Downing town, and Phillie as well.

Any help would be great!

And are there any Benchmade dealers? I tried the dealer search but didn't work.

I want to get a 710 or 806 before I leave.

WOW!!! They have everything I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

try officerstore.com

it's in downingtown, PA. ask for Dan. they stock every benchmade out pretty much as well as Spyderco, Buck, Kershaw and some others. much less than MSRP.

Country knives is a great place to window shop, touch and feel, but their prices are high...on everything from benchmades to douk douks. If you're looking for discontinued stock, they have a fairly good selection also, especially of spydrecos, but you'll pay full price.

Benchmademan,

thanks for the lead on Officerstore., I've lived close to there for seven years and didn't know of any good knife store except Country Knives. I'll go to see them ASAP (and have already hit the site).

If you ever get out the turnpike to Carlisle, there is a little knife shop just off the turnpike. It is Big Bob's Little Knife Shop...between the McDonald's and the western shop (which has a horse on the porch roof).

They have a decent stock of good name brand knives...lot's of junk too, but the owner knows his knives and will steer you right.

The best part is they have a 10% discount for cash for in-stock knives, a 15% discount cash for special orders, and a 20% cash discount for special order for military, fire, police, and various clubs and groups. I have no idea if he'd use the forums as a special group, but you can always ask. Unfortunately they don't have a website.

I've been to Country Knives in Lancaster, and it is a fun trip just to look. I know they have a website.

The King of Prussia Mall had a retail shop last time I was there (been a yr or so). 100% retail, but still fun to look.

Not sure what else is out there.

Look at www.countryknives.com. They're about 20 miles west of Coatesville on Route 340 and are a GREAT shop. Only problem, appear to be 100% MSRP. Very knowledgable, beautiful stock. A must see!

It's a nice store, the people seem to know their stuff. They didn't seem to think much of bladeforums.com though which was turn off #1 for me. Turn off #2 was their insane prices. I know we've all debated dealer prices before, but I feel there is no reason to make almost $100 on a $200 knife. That's just insane. If something costs $100, a 50% mark up is more than enough, making the knife cost $150. If they had fairer prices I would have most likely purchased from them. If I can sell video cameras that cost us $450 for $475, I don't see why I would even consider paying $185 for a Spyderco Manix when I can get one for $115, and at $115 they are hopefully making a few bucks on it.

I felt very uncomfortable watching one of their customers drop $75 or so, before tax, on a black Kershaw Chive. I think I picked up my rainbox chive for $36 or so.

However, if they can sell their knives at these prices and make themselves a living, more power to them. Also it might be worth asking if they will compete with online prices as I never gave them that chance. I don't like to haggle, I'll just shop elsewhere.

Well I tried to get to country knives but they didn't want my money. As we were getting there 5 miles from their shop a coke truck had broken down in the middle of the road. I called them told them the problem I would be there in 10 minutes. Their reply was "We'll be open for a while. We close at 5" I told them I had 500 bucks to spend on knives. "Well we apperciate it but we're....closed"

Nice. It would have taken me 2 minutes to get what I wanted and I had the cash. So they're over priced, and their customer service sucks.

So I will go to the other shop tommorrow and spend my money. Do they have the Chinook?

I was just really fustrated that I had the money, knew what I wanted, and was just a few miles away to drop some money on them, but they would not stay open. I'm just disappointed as I am sure many of you can understand.

Btw, Thanks to everyone for your help. I don't know how else I would have found any shops.

officerstore does not have a chinook in stock but can probably order it for you... like i said.. just drop in and ask for Dan... he'll take care of you!

I agree with you all on Country Knives, I live south of Baltimore and its a 2hr drive to get there. I usually buy something but I go to handle more than anything else just because of the prices. I do agree that they know there stuff and I dont mind buying something that I usually dont see but like already stated they charge way too much on knives that if they just cut down a little on they would be makin more sales online included.

WOW. I wonder if they had somewhere they had to go? I worked in retail sales for about 10 years working at a camera/video store. For the later half I was the manager. We would be open from 10am to 9pm. I'd sometimes have people call at 8:58pm saying "I'm 10 minutes away, would I be able to get my pictures?" and I'd say "Sure" and I'd wait until 9:10pm or whatever, the customer would come in, and I'd ring them up for their $9 bag of film processing. We probably made $5-6.

I didn't own the store, I was just an employee, but I always tried to offer the best customer service I could.

If the owner of my store knew someone was coming to make a large purchase he would stay until 10pm. Actually I once had a customer show up around 9:15pm, we were still counting out and closing up shop, and he wanted to purchase a bunch of video editing equipment. The guy was a some what regular customer, teached video at a college, had a busy schedule, etc. To make a long story short I didn't get done with that sale until 11:30pm.

Also know that I know Country Knives prices are to high for me, I won't go back to waste their time by looking at things, knowing I won't purchase them.

I know, I even held up 5 $100 to the door, and they just shock their head "No"

Nice.

LOL. I guess they must be doing pretty well for themselves. Maybe they are more collectors than sellers and only want to part with their collection of knives for a high price. :)

Thats the thing with hourly employees. If the owner manager has a policy of no over time ( they almost all do) Hourly employees will want to leave on time. Duh.

If as a employee end of shift comes and boss man does not want to keep paying I am gone. I Don't sell your stuff to make you rich because I like you. I do it for the money.

PS I no longer work in retail.

that still reflects very poorly on the store. a customer is a customer and if you're policies end up shafting customers in the end then you're running a poor business. your customers are why you have a business in the first place. run them all off and then try to pay the electric bill... see what happens...
