Well guys I went to that store, and they took care of me great! Picked up a Benchmade 806! My first axis lock, first g-10 scales! I love it!!! Dan kicked ass, and it was cool to shoot the **** with him about knives, and handle a lot of blades I wouldn't normally get to. Their customer service rocks, great prices, and they know what they got.

Thanks for a great suggestion guys. I'm so happy with my 806! Sweet!!!!!

In defense of country knives, the last minute customer at the door with cash to spend is also one of the oldest tricks in the book for theives. It gets you in the door after hours, and given their location, with some minimal casing of the joint, you can load the truck with stock and cash and be gone in less than 15 minutes. I've seen it happen in real life. I've seen it on TV. I've been warned by the cops about the scenario.

As a family run business, with literally thousands of dollar of easily moved stock, they may have turned you away for their own safety. That part of PA looks rural, but there is a lot of people moving through the area, tourists and thieves...from DC, Philly, NY, Balimore, etc. I am pretty sure that the store is run by the wife, husband, daughter and recently the son, with maybe only one employee. Better to institute a policy for safety than cry over the casket of your loved one for a few hundred dollars.

Just to use this as a baseline for other PA stores with knives, I can think of:
*BassPro in Harrisburg
*Cabela's giant store in Hamburg, about 20 miles west of Allentown on Rte 78
*Gander Mountain--Scranton area

I've seen a few gun stores with a small selection, usually at list, too.

Plus PA, at least eastern PA, has two pretty regular gun shows, one usually held at the Valley Forge Con Center and one at the Farm Complex in Harrisburg, so that's maybe 4 times a year for a show with at least two and usually more than three decent vendors who discount.

There is nothing in Western PA near Pittsburgh other than big box Cabelas & Gander Mountain. That sucks.

Just wanted to mention Zerns in Gibertsville PA. They have 3 places that sell knives, one of the places "the cave" sells my custom knives, a few battle horse knives, good selection of edc in $35 range. They also have a few hundred used knives, and are willing to trade and buy small collections on occasion. It is not super high end, but it is worth a look.

The other two knife shops in Zerns also carry a variety affordable stuff.

The cave is starting to develope an inventory worth checking out.
