Pens and Gents' Knives

Superlative idea for a thread, Charlie!. Who doesn't love Pens & Gentleman's(Ladies) knives after all!?!. Great contributions thus far in here too.

An older Case Tested XX that belonged to a fine Lady who used it for sewing chores that my uncle was fond of back in the day..

Here is an even older circa 19th century GB&S small Bartender Gents Pen. I carry/use her for special occasions. This knife is the very sharpest 'old' knife I own bar none and was received by a very fine member and friend in a trade..

Wow! Those are all really nice, especially that bartender knife. I usually like a bigger slippie (4 in.) but lately have been pocketing smaller knives also. All under 3".

I think you need a few more, yablonowtz!! (jk, jk!)
Nice knife AND beads, Robin. Haven't managed to find any greenhearts yet :-<
Tiny beauty, Berkley!

Great pair Anthony!

I grabbed a couple of small folders off of flea-bay recently.
Cheap, and NOS too!

3" closed Ka Bar (Camillus NY) with a single clip blade.
3 1/4" closed Diamond Edge/Imperial (Prov. RI) 2 blade Barlow knife.

It's great to see all of the little pen and gents knives guys. Thanks for posting them. This little beauty was received from a friend of mine on board. A real treasure.

Here's a memento from an estate. A wonderful pair of nicely made Schrade Cut Cos (lobster/orange blossom), engraved with a couple's names. Must have been an important anniversary or the like.
These came through a dealer's hands, so I didn't know the family.
I hope their lives were as beautiful as the knives!

The crocus-finish blades, perfect as mirrors, are hard to image without looking black. It is the original factory finish.

Thanks Anthony!

In earlier times in the cutlery industry, more attention was paid to aesthetics and artistry on these small knives.
Look at the proportions of the texture of this stag, on this Schrade Cut. small pen knife. Nowadays you hardly ever see stag on such a small knife!

That is a absolutely beautiful pen knife. I don't often get jealous when you all post photos but I am today.:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for the comments on the Case knife Charlie and Jim. This is a nice old gent's knife. I like the pattern on the scales. Made circa early 1900 in Germany.

That stag-handled knife is a beauty Charlie. This similar Sheffield penknife from the late 1800s was well-loved over the years.

Nice examples, Steve. You can certainly see the Sheffield DNA when you compare the two stag pens.
A bittersweet history, really!

I could lap up the stag on those two old pens! Impressive colour&texture on both of them, thanks for showing them gentlemen.

Great looking little Vom Cleff there. They really made a fantastic little knife.

I understand the V.C. & Co. tang stamp, but what does W.co. on the main blade mean?? Anyone??

I'm thinking this may be a question for Mr Levine. I can't seem to find much info at all on them and I am really curious.

I finally found time to put together a group of pen knives for a photo.
